I have actually made that as a requirement for sending a PR (if not loom at least a 2 minute video)

I’m a solo dev and review my own code and it would be easier to remember what the heck I did sometimes

I frankly cannot decide if I like this or am vehemently opposed to it. Maybe one to give a shot one day to decide

It’s a very common thing at Atlassian.

I’ve started doing exactly this a couple of months ago using Screen Studio and honestly it’s been such a nicer way to explain things and the logic behind it, wether it’s front end related or not.

We have a section in our PR description for a Loom or screenshots and it’s so helpful

Akin to forcing a Design Document, force yourself to explain.

Shorts at the top of a docs page on a feature are sweet too

Just tried this and it works so well! I immediately found an edge case I forgot to handle

I think if people took 5 minutes to write a summary explaining of what the PR is trying to achieve that would already be awesome 😎

I’ve made this a team requirement for FE PR’s for years. It’s extremely valuable to give the PR reviewers the full context of what they are reviewing and it’s a great way to demo the feature. I’m often guilty of recording too long of videos diving into the guts of the code 🙈

Ah I could never understand frontend PRs with not even a before/after picture. Yes I'll run it locally but at least I know exactly what I'm looking at. I like the loom idea though, might give it a try with the team.

At work we love sending each other videos. We do it for everything. It’s a bit intimidating at first, but I think it’s awesome.

Ugh, no. I have to deal with too much mandatory video every day. Please write a decent summary of what you did and why.
