The Tories criticising the budget when they’re the reason everything is so fucking shit here.

shitposts aside, this one is serious, my loves: if you’re just waking up and you have any service online running PHP 5.4 to latest, you need to take it down RIGHT NOW and don’t put it back online until after it’s patched absolutely catastrophic vulnerability dropped in the middle of the night

My mum performed gypsy magic in front of me today. She put the washing out on the washing line with dense storm clouds outside and a forecast of rain. It’s been beautifully sunny all day since

I take exception to “this has no place in my world”. 50k line PR - whether AI was involved or not - is massively problematic in itself, and it always was. LLMs in the hands of idiots is the same as an idiot with too much time on their hands.

I like seeing the dev of the SNES core on the Pocket actually telling one of these dudes off. Holy shit.

This is actually genius… any channel could do this without either side in attendance and it’d still be informative

I like to think Alan Ritchson's big break wasn't playing Thad Castle but playing Norm Scully in Brooklyn 99

Still on hold actually, I'll be humming this until January 14th

I just had to call someone and their hold music was a "Santa Claus Is Comin' to Town" instrumental - 112 days I guess

Services built by people who never use them 🤣

10km in the air. In order to get in-flight wifi, KLM wants me to confirm my account through a pin that they send to... ...check notes... ...my e-mail that I can't reach because I don't have wifi/5g? Right... 😅

It will never not annoy me that centuries are not zero indexed. January 1st, 2001 was the start of the 21st century too...

Em loves drawing and playing Mario Kart with me lately, so I combined these things into a new sketch book for her. 5 years old already beating me on Rainbow Road 💀

Brasil efforts to protect their elections from Gen AI and now blocking all of Discord over it's lack of protections for young people *notbad face*

EVERYTHING I use Claude for (any model) is the worst experience of a model right now. Assumptions, ignoring instructions, just hallucinating. Every model I try is better. DeepSeek V4 Flash is just amazing. Why anyone would use Claude for a daily driver anymore is beyond understanding.

While Kessler Syndrome is nothing to do with moon debris, Crater-gate did make me look up the status of our own point of no return - news not good, it’s already started 😭 On the plus side, this means Mars will be safe from us. On the downside, the wankers causing it doing it deny climate change

Only the second time in my life that it’s been so hot and dry it has killed this field and pitch

If you have kids and you have normal devices DO NOT go NEAR Amazon Fire devices if you value your f sanity My god just let me use native apps with native parental controls Capitalism obviously dictates they must not allow YouTube kids only regular YouTube despite YouTube kids being part of it

xAI shipped Grok Voice Think Fast 2.0 yesterday. 82.9% on the AA speech-to-speech index, 0.70s to first audio, top agentic score on the board. The interesting part is at the bottom of the announcement, and it costs you money.

A floating model alias is a pricing surface. If you run the default, the vendor decides your invoice. 🚨🔥 Pin grok-voice-think-fast-1.0 before Aug 5 if you want to choose when you pay 60% more. It's one line 🔥🚨

Also in there: a claim that 2.0 beats Deepgram Nova 3 and ElevenLabs Scribe v2 on WER by 1.5-2x, 10x in noise. Vendor-run eval, but the direction matters. Speech-to-speech models are coming for dedicated STT. Full writeup: lukeocodes.dev/grok-voice-2...

On August 5, grok-voice-latest auto-migrates from 1.0 to 2.0. "No action needed to upgrade." Also no action needed to go from $0.05/min to $0.08/min. That sentence is missing. At 100k minutes a month that's $5,000 becoming $8,000 while you're on holiday.
