Darlene, honey ... you are so grossly unqualified for this seat but considering some others in your party you'll fit right in. They'll tell you who/what to vote for ... and you will; you OWE this seat to your brother and the Republican party. Lindsey's former aides are now likely yours.

It’s really not difficult to understand… The repugnant and disgusting want the same representation as the EXCUSE and TICKET to freedom to remain publicly validated…instead of being forced BACK to the edges of society and under rocks where they belong!

Trump has a cult, cults don't just transfer to other people. Witness the Republican lying about inflation recently and being laughed at, they don't realize they don't have the superpower of brainwashing like trump does

MAGA will survive Drumps departure for a short period, until they begin eating each other for lack of authenticity. None of these fascist wannabes have the feral charisma or insuperable lack of self awareness that the Dear Loader possesses. The movement will fracture into smaller sub-cults.

Because the people don’t hold them to account. From what I’ve seen on BlueSky, people are more likely to blame democrats than republicans— and this is from people who are more sympathetic to a democratic point of view.

His voters want to be entertained with a TV personality or comedian, not a serious PUBLIC servant with ideas to improve our country and knowledge of the law and Constitution.

Yep. The GOP willingly and knowingly decided to sacrifice their entire party's existence for their own short-term gains at the further expense of the entire country itself. A forever stain that will never be cleared, even if we somehow DO manage to survive all this.

Agreed! The GOP has gone full fascist, ever since Trump showed them that they CAN, in fact, do whatever the hell they want and suffer no real repercussions. You don't EVER come back from that. Even if we make it through this, they'll forever remain a fascist party, much like the AfD in Germany.

The plan to overthrow the government and replace it with a White Nationalist Christian theocracy goes back to the 1960s They've been screaming it for decades Until it got so blatant is became unavoidable like today Now put the snakes back in the basket That's the problem

The deception only keeps working if the Republican voters are more stupid than the Republican candidates. The balance is slowly shifting.

The only real thing that drives the MAGA base is hate and racism. At their core, that's what fuels them and gets them through the day. Donald Trump revealed it and showed us all that deep down these cultists just want to inflict pain on people that don't look like them or worship their god.

So, in order to appeal to that base (because it's very profitable), Republicans have had to embrace being overtly racist, transphobic, Islamophobic, homophobic, etc. All the things that Trump and right-wing propaganda have brainwashed them into fearing and hating for decades. They are deplorables.

"the Republican base has become more ideologically extreme but also more committed to a particular style of politics: loud, angry, violent in its rhetoric, encased in a deranged media bubble, and indulgent of almost any idea, no matter how ludicrous" Andy Harris! See recent video.

Serious question: If this guy is openly admitting to having committed murder, why are we not pursuing criminal charges? I mean, if he was really 7, there would be some mitigating circumstances involved in sentencing and stuff, but there's no statute of limitations on murder, and it's still illegal.

And presumably there's some person out there who freaking died, and their family never got closure or learned what happened. That seems like a thing that shouldn't just be ignored?

His yard signs in Colorado Springs are either in the flaky upper crust neighborhoods or the poorest of neighborhoods. Everyone else has a Jessica Killin sign. The rich just want their tax cuts and my poor neighbors watch Fox Angertainment. Fox has got to go

There’s a guy on Instagram who makes content about close congressional races between standard issue Democrats and Republicans that are, like, orcs and demagorgons… and it took me a full minute to realize this wasn’t that brand of humor.

I have seen some bad candidates in my time, but Marx is the definitive example of the worse of the worst. He is just another republican from the far right extreme that has the charisma of a serial murderer and is a preacher at the same time with followers. Enjoyed the meme!

Yup. Ignorance and racism are now celebrated. The dumber and more hateful the candidate the better. Trump’s stain on this country will take decades to overcome (if we’re able to overcome it).

We really gotta do something about narcissism as a society. It's gonna take generations to fully undo the damage, but ultimately getting those that only care about themselves out of power positions is the only way we're getting through this.

Too many people - GOP and Dem - seem to think that once Trump is gone, GOP magically reverts to pre-2016 status. Nope. "Old" GOP is dead and buried and not coming back.

I agree and this is a real opportunity for progressive Dems to lead the change. Now we need to elect strong leaders and replace the dead weight like Schumer and Jeffries. Time for Ossoff and others like him to take charge.

My sentiments exactly. Trump has created a cult of evil, despicable people who will continue their evil ways, even after Trump is dead and buried. This country will never recover.

Trump's worst work has been to pollute the public w/ violence, cruelty, racism, unwarranted suspicion about the reliability of elections & the courts. Disregard for the Constitution & for the law. He has torn our fabric & fractured our foundations. His work goes much deeper than some "bad policies".

"That's the problem with hitting the elites financially. Every time you hurt one, all it does is make another richer. That won't stop until the baskets overflow with their godsdamned heads." - Rosetta Thagra, A Parade of Horribles by Matt Dinniman

Why do we still call it the Republican Party. That party died with Trump. It’s now the MAGA party through and through. Normal, rational Republicans now need to either accept and acclimate to MAGA, or switch their affiliation.

The thing is no one respects those wannabes. They don’t fear them. They don’t have the cult following. Rs and Is will be free of the warped worldview of maga when TFG is finally out of the WH.

Surely he's unique though? I mean he doesn't really have a manifesto of any substance beyond MAGA and being vulgar? I can't see how that species of republican can have any wind in their sails once their dear leader goes into the ether. Maybe I'm naive

As long as republicans are not listening to their constituents (the double down on bad positions method), democrats will have more time implement real change for Americans. If we keep donor democrats in, they won't make those needed changes. Vote accordingly.

It’s populism and moral equivalence put to work. People go for it for a while but it inevitably comes unstuck. Consider a country exclusively full of these morons. How do you think that would turn out? It would be wall to wall smeared with brown.

Some truth in this but I also tend to think that the bulk of the thinking class of repubs (and I use thinking loosely) want the guy gone as much as everyone else so once so I think they'll settle down a bit. Yeah there will still be the aggrieved wingnut class but I think it'll be like 15%.

The "thinking" part of the GOP looked at Romney's loss and thought they had to win Latinos by turning down the racism, and were preparing for Hillary to win and rebuild. Trump proved racism, misogyny, and transphobia didn't drive off Latinos much and activated the base, so ride or die MAGA now.

Maybe, although their "inflation inflation inflation war war immigrant invasion crime transgender crime inflation" campaign would have still been effective against <generic Democrat>, their complete suppression of Trump I memories was impressive.

It is our fervent hope that November will see the death of the Party of Trump where the mere mention of his name becomes the kiss of death for any Republican with ambitions for higher office.

But will they succeed? Seemingly Trump was propelled by The Apprentice, which I am proud to say we never watched, having seen all we needed to learn of Trump in the newspaper. None of the others come in with that kind of baked in reputation, do they?
