Former Republican who disavowed and left the GOP 15 years ago when it moved too far right, abandoned any principles, and became irredeemably fascist and corrupt. Actually, come to think of it, I came here from Twitter for pretty much the same reasons.

Bluesky doesn't have pinned posts yet and the bio is only so long, so until then I'll use this post to state some of my interests & add to it in replies if I feel a need to expand on anything: Tabletop Roleplaying Games (ttrpgs|D&D|RuneQuest|CoC), Archeology, Anthropology, Mythology, Astrophysics!

"Can YOU produce science? Did YOU win the Nobel Prize? Did YOU win the Fields Prize? Did YOU win the Wolf Prize? Have YOU produced literature?" Racism aside, of all the absolute wastes-of-space in this regime, RFKjr is among the LAST people who should be talking about not enriching the world.

The Bulwark@thebulwark.com

RFK: "There's five hundred million Arabs in the world. And yet they don't produce science. They don't win the Nobel Prize. They don't win the Fields Prize. They don't win the Wolf Prize. They don't produce literature."

So sorry to hear of the loss of Walter Koenig. I know he was best known for his portrayal of Star Trek's Pavel Chekhov, but in my memory, he will forever be Babylon Five's favorite conniving PsiCop, Alfred Bester.

At his age, he could have said so many other things that could have been a potentially reasonable excuse. "My eyesight isn't what it used to be." "My grip on the pen is weak anymore." But no, he said he was TOO LAZY to do art himself. On a piece of 9/11 MEMORIAL ARTWORK at that. Jesus Christ.

Oh, shit. www.publishersweekly.com/pw/by-topic/...

So, I was typing up a grocery list when my fingers got slightly off-target while typing too fast, and I have now apparently conjured up some eldritch foodstuff whose origin I can only assume is Welsh/Italian.

Just a reminder that polls like this MEAN NOTHING. IGNORE ALL POLLS, and VOTE REGARDLESS OF HOW GOOD THINGS LOOK. NONE of this is guaranteed, regardless of the polls. Make sure the votes are SO OVERWHELMING that the Dems HAVE to do something when this fascist regime tries to declare races invalid.

SteveMND@stevemnd.bsky.social

Alright, @democrats.org… I did my part. I voted (by mail). You've fucked up every response to this fascist regime so far by continuing to deny that they ARE in fact a fascist regime and acting like strongly worded letters and finger-wagging will work against these people. Do not let us down AGAIN.

But seriously though, wouldn't it be nice if this started happening? I feel like all it would take to get the entire judiciary to start taking punitive action (that they should have done months ago!) is for just ONE FREAKIN' JUDGE to start it, and the whole dam would break on these bullshit cases.

Alec Rider@alecridersyr.bsky.social

We gotta be close to seeing bailiffs slapping cuffs on an ICE agent for criminal contempt of court, right?

I'm happy this verdict came down, but I'll not celebrate until they ACTUALLY pay that amount. We now live in a post-repercussion world, and I have no doubts Trump's fascist regime will try to stick their thumb on the scale here, because a threat to ONE rich asshole is a threat to ALL rich assholes.

A judge on Wednesday ordered Meta to pay New Mexico $25 billion after a jury found the company liable for deceiving users about privacy and content moderation policies on Facebook.

Ramaswamy: "Okay, this is going to be a GREAT attack ad! Imagine getting her OWN MOM to call her a liar. At least we won't get hit by any surprises from not bothering to do proper research before releasing THIS one, am I right? Yeah, I'm so smart." Ramaswamy's Staff:

The Bi of Hormuz@joshstein.bsky.social

BTW, this is a distinct scandal from the *other* sex offender ad that Ramaswamy pulled last week. www.newsweek.com/ramaswamy-ca...

You can best define a hero by the villains who rise up against him.

Last I'll post about this, but Elon Musk disagrees with me. This means I am onto something, and I feel more valid in my opinion than ever.

It frightens me worse that so many people didn't immediately realize this was exactly this sort of display 'car' when they first saw it perform. It was *obviously* a publicity stunt by Musk to promote the roadster's release and not a real honest-to-god functional flying car. Yet here we are.

Mark T. Sneed@marktsneed.bsky.social

The lies the rich and powerful are allowed to state are absolutely unbelievable. #muskbullshit. Such a bald-faced liar. No flying car. Let me repeat that. No Tesla flying car.

"Oh man, look at all this dangerous shit we're making. I sure hope someone forces us to stop making this dangerous shit, or else our dangerous shit might do some shit that's REALLY dangerous! The people who didn't stop us sure wouldn't want THAT on their conscience!"

A great opportunity from a great artist!

How very unsurprising for an internationally hated, corrupt state run by criminals, con men, murderers, and war criminals to call the only court that might actually inconvenience some of them a "rogue court."

Jorge Liboreiro@jorgeliboreiro.bsky.social

🚨 Just in: The US has sanctioned the ICC. "We will ban transactions with this rogue court, cutting off their resources and crippling its ability to operate," Marco Rubio said in a statement.

Honestly, Bluesky Trending AI... Given that it's Trump we're talking about, maybe you could have worded that a little better.

• Dumb as a brick • Signing whatever his handlers put in front of him • Blatantly racist & sexist • Easily manipulated by smarter people • Demands adoration by everyone • Surrounded by sycophantic yes-men • Told he's right even when he's clearly wrong • Gets angry if someone doesn't follow his lead

Is there a work of art that was created well before the current era that you feel explains Trump and MAGA and everything better than anything contemporary? For me it’s Assassins (1990) but I’m curious if other people have one.

Really disappointed that Lindsey Stirling's new music video for "Purpose" appears to have Generative AI in it. I've been a huge fan of her music for over a decade, and given how much raw creativity I've seen in her shows and earlier videos, having to renounce another of my favorites is depressing.

To those who STILL say "this is just fearmongering; it'd never actually happen." Seriously? Trump sent a LITERAL MOB to the Capitol to try and retain control the LAST TIME. He only failed at that because, unlike now, he didn't have ALL THREE branches (plus a corrupt SCOTUS) completely behind him.

NEW: As Colorado’s Tina Peters reportedly meets with President Trump to discuss an election “plan,” her attorney says the plan involves seizing ballots nationwide and discusses strategy for a potential civil war

You don't NEED a lot of actual power for intimidation. The ILLUSION of it is all that's needed. Do folks actually think there won't be ANY brown or black people—or hell, even white Dems/socialists—who might think twice about showing up at their polls when they see the fascist regime's goons there?

Brennan Center@brennancenter.org

DOJ election monitors “don’t really have a whole lot of power” @seanmorales-doyle.bsky.social said on @11thhourmsnow.bsky.social.

For those actually curious, it's nothing special: "The journal entry was simple: 'Edward came to see me,' Hardman wrote, referring to Sir Edward Young, her private secretary, who was helping the Queen make arrangements for the swearing in of newly elected U.K. Prime Minister Liz Truss’ ministers."

Daniel Bellingradt@dbellingradt.bsky.social

Wrong answers only. My bet: thanks for all the fish.

"All these testimonials—they didn't meet a female Jesus; they didn't meet a soft or passive Jesus. Jesus is a MAN! Talk about testosterone. Like a mustang!"

Christian Nightmares@christiannightmare.bsky.social

"Talk about testosterone!" Apparently, this guy met Manly MAGA Jesus in Heaven...

We all know WHY they're doing this, but claiming Nixon was screwed over is barely two steps upstream from Trump's goons just outright stating, "Honestly, Hitler was given a raw deal in WWII, and we need to recognize that America treated the Nazi regime very unfairly by our participation in D-Day."

Before folks start leaping all over this with "Oh, Trump's turning on his biggest allies now," remember that Trump already had a falling out with Fox quite a LONG time ago, which is why he and his minions turned to even further-right channels like NewsMax, who lick his boots to a far better shine.

Matthew Gertz@mattgertz.bsky.social

President Trump's demands for Fox propaganda are getting even more bizarre and extreme.

REBUKE? As in "to sternly reprimand or scold" or "to criticize strongly"…? JFC. The fact that he says a feeble, weak "REBUKE Trump" and not "IMPRISON Trump"—or something even harsher—tells you all you need to know that they have no intention of doing jack shit. Just more Strongly Worded Letters.

For all those people who don't play or have any interest in TTRPGs (D&D, Pathfinder, Call of Cthulhu, etc.), I can only assume that this is exactly what it sounds like to THEM when WE speak of gaming stuff.

Happy Game 162 Day

So, I tracked the full video of Peter Thiel's "evil is not bad" clip, and when taken within the ACTUAL context, it reveals a completely different argument than what I see people reacting to here. He's still an irremovably disgusting, terrible, twisted ghoul, but for completely DIFFERENT reasons.

*That was supposed to be "irredeemably" instead of "irremovably," but, sadly, that may be just as applicable of a descriptor for him by this point.

"U.S. military lays groundwork for potential action around Cuba" Uggggggh. Everyone telling me it doesn't help to be a pessimist (realist) about this fascist regime sure aren't showing how being an optimist about them is any better.

SteveMND@stevemnd.bsky.social

Yep. This is why this fascist regime isn't scared of any consequences, because THERE ARE NONE. Venezuela, Iran, and probably Cuba here shortly as well. This regime is betting that their military and economic standing in the world ensures that no one else would DARE to actually do anything in return.

Honestly, all I can think of as gas prices continue to rise is that random guy in an online discussion with me four years ago, almost to the day, who said that he didn't care if voting Republican would fuck everything else up; he would vote R in the midterms if gas under Biden was over $4.00/gallon.

I'm sorry, but even if he wasn't just rambling his normal nonsense, I still couldn't take anything said by someone named "Tuberville" seriously.

So, does anyone have info on which restaurant chains to avoid who might have been given this meat? Any word, @altfda.altgov.info? Since we know the oh-so-lauded Private Sector can't remotely regulate itself properly, they likely won't bother doing anything until people ACTUALLY start getting sick.

This post is unavailable.

I think I just aged another ten years in under five minutes. Pope Leo XIV has been gifted a massive green orb, and I have scrolled through at least fifty posts or more about it here on Bluesky and not a SINGLE JOKE included a Heavy Metal/Loc-Nar reference.

The Trending AI synopsis says, "Salazar breaks with Trump on immigration," which is a weird way to say "Salazar suddenly worried now that the face-eating leopards are getting too close for her comfort."

Perversely, Trump doesn't HAVE a sense of humor. Everything he says is just whatever he's thinking at the moment; he has no internal filter between what passes for his brain and his mouth. Everything he says is completely serious… unless, of course, it isn't well received and is thus 'A jOkE.'

The Tennessee Holler @thetnholler.bsky.social

Trump *jokes* about withholding FEMA funding from North Carolina unless the Republican wins (which he has literally been doing)

This, by the way, is EXACTLY the sort of response we're going to get from this fascist regime come the midterms if/when they lose the votes and would (theoretically) lose control. Anyone who thinks otherwise (looking at YOU @democrats.org) has their head in the sand deeper than the MAGA cultists.

theguardian.comHouse speaker calls early recess before midterms amid AI regulation frenzyMike Johnson cancels votes on Thursday, meaning House members will avoid voting on impeaching Pete Hegseth

This 9/11 debate seems silly. We didn't all ONLY have this collective 'patriotic unity' and nothing else, and we didn't all ONLY have this rabid collective bloodlust and nothing else. As with everything, we reacted to the event in different ways at different times. There was no one single aggregate.

Sorry, Wall Street Journal; I hate to burst your so-called exclusive, but I'm pretty sure we ALL are very aware that the "war" will mysteriously and not-at-all-suspiciously end right after Trump doesn't need any further leverage out of it.
