I got an ad for a ring that was on sale for $18, but when I clicked on it it was listed on the website for $31. I emailed them and said hey, this ad gave me the wrong price (hoping they’d give it to me for the price I originally saw it in their ad for), but they just said oops the ad is wrong! 🤨🥸💀

I had an issue with a coffee bean subscription place charging me $hundreds for shipping which should have been free. They ignored emails and eventually I went to the NYS Division of Consumer Protection and within a couple of weeks it was fixed. Might be worth contacting your state’s equivalent.

Yes! I once caught a charity event's entry fee was different (lower) in an ad than online, I contacted the charity, they thanked me for catching the discrepancy AND LET ME IN FOR FREE. I made sure to at least buy an event shirt.

I hope they enjoy not selling the ring. That’s quite a price difference. But if you were in the shop I worked at and I confirmed the lower price was the mistake, that’s what you’d get. I have that sort of flexibility on occasion.

Well see now that’s exactly the question, because the ring is $45 originally, so it is somewhat tempting to buy it at $31, but now I’m miffed so I am not gonna buy it on principle! Plus after shipping and taxes the ring becomes $40 anyway!!

I wouldn’t buy it on principle at this point. They’re just screwing with the numbers. Should you ever be in my neck of the woods I will sell you rings without messing with your head.

Does that rub anyone else the wrong way or just me? There was a comment on the ad that said the prices were inaccurate too. It just feels like baiting honestly, or false advertising I guess. Irks me.

Not only you. I'd go out of my way to remove myself from their mailing list and block their domain. I don't do business with bait-and-switch shops or the newest variant: algorithm-driven, real-time pricing. What a scam.

Yeah that's pretty much a "I will never buy anything from them ever" thing for me. If they're being dishonest on the advertising then you can't really trust them with the delivering what you bought side.
