How did we go, in just a few years, from caring so much about code architecture and doing things with care, to treating giving everything to AI as not only the "proper way to code", but also not willing to do this as an roadblock to ever becoming a "proper programmer"?
Nouveau Meet-up le jeudi 15 Octobre !

First time playtesting my new game, and despite the prototype being very scrappy and buggy, people had fun! Reassuring to know that this might be the green light to continue working on it, hope to share more soon ✌️
I feel like there's a severe lack in COUCH co-op games that provide a real sense of challenge. No shade to more party-like games, but I want to see more games that mix the fun of overcoming challenge with the fun of being with friends on a couch. Do you have any recommendations?
Here is our next Ninesliced game ! Montic was made for the GMTK 2026 and we plan to release it on steam !

Heyo #portfolioDay, you came just in time!
I draw #pixelArt (mostly #gameArt) and sometimes explore the third dimension. Mainly cozy or colorful but secretly open to other things.
More stuff in portfolio at cara.app/lampysprites.
Open to work (short or long) - email lampysprites@hotmail.com or DM
Montic OST - Board
This is the other track I made for the GMTK game jam. It plays during gameplay. It was kinda tough to make a slower track that still fit my style, but I think it worked out. I especially like the second section.
It also kind of uses a motif from the title track.

I've been completely obsessed over Denshattack lately. This game is batshit mental. Banger music, incredible art, great scoring system, my personal GOTY so far 😁
This weekend we made a tiny game with the amazing Blukulélé! ✨
Made in just a few hours for the TriJam, the theme was "Eye Contact"... so naturally we made a love-at-first-sight game. ❤️👀
Hope you enjoy it!

Here's the numbers I made so far with my game! (For reference, I'll keep about half of net revenue)
I never made this to earn money so I'm honestly super chuffed. I'm aware both of how hard it was but also how lucky I am to have such a moderate success.
Thank you so much! 💚
Summer is an unbearable 40°C here in France rn, and I'm saddened by the fact that we will probably never get a warm-but-pleasant summer again for the rest of my life. 🫠
Reposting this showreel since I updated it with a few more projects.

One fact that almost made me consider never doing game dev commercially, is that the kind of game you make matters. The genre of a game is one of the earliest decisions you make and it's also one of the most important marketing-wise. Let me explain...
I sometimes see beautifully crafted games, like some 2D platformers, not reach a level of success that's up to their quality, and every time it happens... something dies inside of me. 🥲
Please, make games because you care and you love doing them. If you start from the idea that what you make is going to make money, you're dooming yourself creatively. Make good things, and maybe money will come later, maybe not. Success is not just measured in dollars. ❤️

With due respect to Chris Zukowski (great guy, love him), while his advice is effective marketing advice, it's sometimes miserable game design advice. My least favorite is "make the genre of your game super obvious and take their tropes in the presentation".
When I design games, genre is one of the last things I think about. I like to design systems and mechanics first, and sometimes different problems just so happen to have the same solutions. Retraining myself from the start in a genre, for me, is just not a fun way to do things.

Yeah I know that you can choose something in the intersection of what you love and what sells, but I got into game dev because of the infinite possibilities and creativity it offers. I don't want to open a new project and have marketability to be the first thing I think about.
There's basically no way I can find to frame this in a nice way. It's just something you need to accept if you want to sell a game. There's no "fix" because it's an inherent part of markets and supply and demand.

Basically, the genre of a game affects the success that you can expect out of it. It doesn't mean that it's impossible to succeed in a tough genre, and vice-versa, but if a genre is saturated, the law of supply and demand just means that it will be harder.
Thank you so much for the response to Bugscraper's release. It's been incredibly fulfilling and I could not be more grateful. It's also been intense and overwhelming, so I will take some time off to rest (and play games). I still have plans for the game but please stay patient! 💚🐛
