Tectonic update? In 2026? Crazy! The first beta of Tectonic's 3.1.0 update is out now for 26.3, featuring three new island types: volcanoes, calderas, and atolls! Download it here -> modrinth.com/datapack/tec... #mcdev #minecraft

Chunk generation should be a bit faster in the latest snapshot! Of course, your mileage may vary :)

New Jersey is a spiritually evil place and for that reason I believe Mojang should add it as the next Nether biome #minecraft

man the hank green ai stuff makes me sad it's an unfortunate reminder that you really shouldn't be fully trusting *any* creator based solely off their word

After almost 5 years since 1.18 came out, I think it's time for the biome layout to get some structural changes to reduce microbiomes. It wasn't *that* bad originally, but the generation of Cherry Groves, Pale Gardens, Sulfur Caves, and now Dappled Forests is reaching a point. #minecraft

At long last, my first major update to Regions Unexplored is out! This update features two new biomes, improvements in dozens of others, additions to vanilla biomes, a new mob, and so much more! It's been a huge undertaking it's finally complete. Happy travels! #mcdev #minecraft

I took over development of Regions Unexplored in January and have been hard at work. Today I can finally show my first new biome in the mod! It replaces the Mauve Hills biome, and is filled with trees bearing various pastel leaves and hanging leaves. #mcdev #minecraft

honestly I think hytale and minecraft have a similar base but they're wildly different games, there is definitely some overlap but they're designed with different things in mind and that's okay. I'm excited to see the future of Hytale and I hope both games inspire each other too

I present my first ever modded mob: The Snail! You'll find them roaming around at night and in caves. In slime chunks, you might even find an abandoned shell of a dead snail. 1/3 #mcdev #minecraft

If you combine a snail shell and a chest, you can craft a Snail Chest. These have four rows of slots instead of three, but no Large variant. 2/3

If you shift-click a Snail Chest, you can place it on your chest and move it around! You can't move it elsewhere in your inventory, so you can only carry one at a time. You might even find a Wandering Trader with a Snail Chest sometimes instead of Trader Llamas. 3/3

The new timeline feature with environment attributes is super cool! I made this quick datapack as a test that made nighttime brightness based on the moon phase, and it was very simple to do. #mcdev #minecraft

Genuine question for people late in / have completed their computer science degree, is it even worth going into in 2025? I love computer science but the job prospects look so bad and I can't imagine them being much better in 2029.

Apollo's Enchantment Rebalance has now released. This project aims to thoroughly rework the vanilla enchantment system. It features better anvils, less enchantment incompatibilities, loot changes, and a mix of buffs and nerfs to almost every single enchantment. modrinth.com/mod/apollos-... #mcdev

This ad is somehow real. What????

I'm disgusted by the concept of generative AI tooling for Minecraft mods. This isn't the first one and it sure as hell won't be the last, but it made my blood boil regardless. (1/5) #mcdev #minecraft

If you can't find anyone who is willing to collaborate, there are always non-AI tools, primarily MCreator. While I've personally bashed on it in the past for its performance concerns, I recognize that it is a legitimately useful onboarding ramp for new Minecraft modders and artists. (4/5)

That all being said, I despise the idea that generative AI tools spread that they are "democratizing modding", because that's just not true. They're trying to create a new path of least resistance, one predicated on laziness and lies. (5/5)

Minecraft modding is not a walled garden. There are tutorials on Youtube, rich documentation and guides on modloader websites, and vast communities on Discord who are more than willing to help new modders and artists. The IDEs, plugins and toolchains most used are all free and open source. (2/5)

Even if you don't know how to code mods or create textures, there's plenty of open-source mods to look at for reference and people willing to help and collaborate with you. I'm not an artist myself, but I've worked with several very talented artists to bring my ideas to life. (3/5)

So a few weeks ago, some random kid on Discord managed to get my Facebook and all other Meta accounts suspended, with no chance of appeal and no way to make new accounts; hours after sending a nonsensical malicious threat. It’s horrific that this is actually possible
