It’s staggering that the EU still issues more than half a million visas each year to Russian citizens. As @ilvestoomas.bsky.social points out on the Continental Rift Show today, it’s Spain, France, and Italy that issue the vast majority of those visas.

Elon Musk spreads disinformation about Ukraine after being exposed for sabotaging military operations by the WSJ. The US tax funded billionaire, Trump's largest donor, (backed by Israel and Russia); tied to the deaths of thousands of children due to USAid cuts, blames Ukraine for not surrendering.

President Zelenskyy: "Starlink shuts down at speeds above 161 km/h in Ukraine, but works at speeds exceeding 180 km/h in the EU" President Zelenskyy said Ukraine had conducted tests to determine whether SpaceX was experiencing technical issues or whether this was a "deliberate operation."

1/ The Musk-Trump decision to degrade Ukraine's Starlink access as a pressure tactic is a disaster not just for the United States' reputation but for the entire US defence industry. Musk's action may end up burning the whole industry. ⬇️

10/ In the short term I expect to see Starlink being dropped like a hot potato by governments around the world. Nobody will want to be in the same position as Ukraine, of imploring Musk to turn it back on while their civilians are being killed as a direct result of the outage.

One more sick indictment of Russia's regime, full of war criminals. A teenager, in shorts, clearly not military, was hunted down for fun, by a Russian drone pilot in Kherson. What's more the animals proudly publish the terror. It's not known what happened to the boy.

As expected, House Speaker Mike Johnson has killed a vote on Lindsey Graham’s Russia sanctions bill, which passed the Senate earlier this year. The Trump administration will do absolutely nothing to help Ukraine defend itself against Russia’s brutal war.

In Radushne, people gathered to honour the memory of the large Voronov family, murdered by Russia. A grief so immense that words cannot contain it. 💔

Maria Drutska@mariadrutska.bsky.social

This pain is impossible to put into words. 💔 Danylo Voronov stands on the ruins of his home, mourning the family Russia took from him - his parents, brothers, sisters, and his 1.5yo son Artem. An entire life destroyed in one Russian strike. How much grief can our people be forced to carry?😭

You all need to erase the idea of the noble and mythical Russian that is so oppressed they couldn't possibly speak out and nonconsenting of Putin's invasion of Ukraine. It's a lie, they do have access to all the same info we all do. A small, very small minority, is actually standing against this.

Thought experiment (certainly not original): how and how much better would US and global security be if the US had provided all the munitions it has used against Iran since 2/28 to Ukraine instead? (Yes, yes, Ukraine cannot use some of the munitions, lacks the platforms, but in general). Discuss.

2/ Vance, absent from the Iran war campaign, is literally selling his soul to keep Russia's biggest friend in Europe in power. "Or[c]ban" trails by up to 23 points in some opinion polls and various leaks show he called in Moscow's FSB to fix the election, just 5 days away.

Consider the opportunity costs of the war in Iran. The missiles might have been sent to Ukraine, to end that war. The money might have bought healthcare for Americans. The attention of Europe and Asia might have been focused on countering Russia and China, not re-opening the Strait of Hormuz

The tragic irony of the last few years is that, had the USG given Ukraine only a fraction of the weapons that they have expended against Iran in a few weeks (Patriots, Tomahawks, etc), Ukraine would have won, oil prices would not be skyrocketing and the US would be more secure.
