Also I wasn’t joking about P2P, there’s no back end here at all so far. All client side interaction uses Trystero (trystero.dev) which has been super easy to set up. Very cool that in-browser P2P apps are now at the “just import this” and it works level. Proximity voice chat was a piece of cake!

Okay, kind of having a lot of fun with this thing. I *think* I have a cool path toward level editing being 100% in Blender + a post processing script and a single json file (possibly lexicon) for global map properties. Maps and assets will be ATProto records + blobs!

Where this should get really cool is that we can link between maps (which will be their own lexicon) via portals and create interconnected worlds?!

In a world of terrible AI takes, I like this proposal. The biggest problem is still bad actors, boosters that vibe their way through it and claim that they've made miracles with no way to understand (or wilfully misrepresenting) if that's true, but I would enjoy more signals from honest actors too.

This seems to be a reasonable parallel to the big "NO GEN AI" type badges that some folks put on their work. That signal seems to have roughly held up and at least I know what I'm getting! It's nice to have something along the same lines, but for coding agent users.

Political meat-proxy astroturfing needs to be legislatively nuked out of existence if we want to have any semblance of a democracy. The use of this tech should be an immediate career ending scandal.

Canada's National Observer@nationalobserver.com

The way the app works is this: -Supporters sign up and download the app -Soon, they begin receiving notifications, known in the app as "Digital Fighters Tasks" -The app auto-generates text for the supporter to post, and offers a reward in exchange for copying it on to social media

This sucks super hard, but I’m sort of enjoying the through-line of the Canadian government telling Meta they must pay when other people link to news via their website and them pulling an uno reverse and making YOU pay THEM for the ability to link to things instead.

Wanting more Wikidata-backed projects in the world, I was somehow able to nerd-snipe my partner Liza into making one! She was able to turn her weird esoteric knowledge of this mid 90s philosopher collective into a well sourced computable relationship graph. Go check it out, it's cool, I promise!

for two months, I've been flying drones over Flock cameras to situation them in space and geography; I even got my commercial drone license in order to do it. I'd like to share this project with you all: it's called Records Of Enemy Surveillance: recordsofenemysurveillance.com

if you want to start a platform co-op, nobody tells you: you will be held to the same consumer expectations as any venture-backed platform. functional, beautiful, well-resourced, every feature at launch, every email answered immediately. 1/

I pretty much agree with all of his gripes here except for the first one, competition is sort of the nature of our market-driven economy and consumers won't cut you slack because of your governance model. IMO co-ops need to be hungrier for success than the VCs in order to win.

So they’re a weird mix between gambling and the shopping channel? You pay money to bid on trading cards and the like while some dude says “let’s go chat, come on, let’s get some bids” to a stream with about 12 viewers.
