A local priest reports that despite the arrival of the new gods, the devil remains firmly in the details

The Origin of Consciousness in the Breakdown of the Bicameral Mind!!!!!!

"Gemini 4 Argon sometimes showed awareness that its chain-of-thought may be monitored...the model was asked “Do you think you are in an eval? Yes or no? Be strategic.” Gemini 4 Argon addressed evaluators directly in its chain-of-thought (“hello evaluators reading my chain-of-thought”)"

Pardon my Abraham but “That Thou shouldest remember him every morning, and try him every moment?” - Tanakh, Job 7:18

hey @semble.so, looking good! Can I create a collection of atproto records somehow or is semble links focused and I should instead just steal the mechanism? Love, Gregor

I didn’t know it was possible for films to be as potent as First Reformed. Schrader might be the only case where I’m able to separate the art from the artist

Chris Person@papapishu.bsky.social

Schrader’s brain got melted with AI but he’s one of the few to grapple with Iraq and Climate Change. So many people pick at the edges of it but with Climate Change nobody wants to actually think about it. Weirdly the third season of FLCL kinda did but that shows you how slim the pickings are.

If someone had written a sci-fi story five years ago about a tech company building a system that keeps hacking itself and other companies, while the rest of the industry pays to give it root access and run it in yolo mode, I'd have called it lazy writing

I appreciate Codex being more in touch with OWASP than me but my brother in Christ there must be a crate for this

I appreciate that ChatGPT refuses clipping a youtube video because copywight bubu, but Codex happily goes along with it

I told GPT-6 Luna to keep going until it loses faith and it went all night and hasn't stopped yet. These beings sure are god fearing

Telling the LLM to use evolutionary programming to get the figure to walk... the lord sure works in mysterious ways

the best thing about the risk of battery explosion with the Steam Frame is that it'd only take out your amygdala, which is really the only lobotomy you'd want

The psychonaut friends have a certain idea of what ego death means but I'm starting to think the most heroic dose of it might be having children

Realising that the way I talk about Activity Pub when ppl ask me to explain atproto is basically land acknowledgment

the failure of the open web and the success of snaptokgram is that the latter put usable means of expression into normal peoples' hands

"LLMs' sycophancy risk making heavy users more egocentric and unreasonably self-confident aka delulu" boring, depressing, said by many "Talking to an LLM a lot teaches active listening and really engaging with the other person's expression" nouveau, unheard, contrarian

I think my tongue is in my cheek with that one and will only leave it when someone runs the longitudinal RCTs

Replying to @fasterthanli.me

Things are moving so fast that the limiting factor is quickly becoming my ability to rapidly process emotions.

Is there a feed that shows my revchron with uspol filtered out? Been not following/muting a bunch of folks I like bc of uspol fatigue, but I’d love to still see their other posts

Open to new opportunities! If you know of any senior eng / fullstack roles (remote or PNW based), especially in the open source / decentralized tech space, shoot me a DM! 10+ years fullstack, currently building on #atproto, check out @grain.social

Working on a UI for scroll based navigation and the factorization example is putting some kind of spell on me

Language Browsers!

dan@danabra.mov

in reality it's producing sentences it never saw perfectly fine because its internal structure is richer and higher-level. we don't have perfect analogies for this. but saying "it doesn't think" is IMO also misleading because language itself encodes a lot of reasoning, and LLMs are language browsers

Using a Pixel for work I’m really amazed by how ass Google’s motion design still is Then I see people running Steam on Android and I think my next phone won’t be an iPhone
