it probably goes without saying, and not that pointing out hypocracy matters because these people know what they're saying isn't true but think saying it makes it so but arabs invented BASE TEN and THE NUMBER ZERO there's not really a group of people it'd be dumber to accuse of not doing science

WAIT SORRY, WALTER KOENING'S DAUGHTER WROTE THE UNAIRED INVADER ZIM ZIM/DIB SHIPBAIT EPISODE?!?!

My pal Danielle Koenig shared that her father Walter Koenig passed away last night at age 90. A performer whose kindness and warmth shone through the screen. He will be well remembered.

1970s ADULTS: children's television exists to create a sentimental attachment to and insatiable need for consumer products, and this is a real problem for kids' development 2020s ADULTS: how dare you suggest my unproblematic faves the muppets should be in fewer commercials. i'll fucking cut you

i say the same thing every time this comes up: access to the complete library of human achievement is unprecedented, even if you take capitalist gatekeepers and ai slop into account. there are historic works of art at my fingertips that it was impossible to buy, barter, or steal just ten years ago

Social media loves talking about how everything is getting worse. But what’s something that you’ve seen get _better_ in your lifetime?

every newspaper, every show, production materials from every show, conflicting version re-edits... these days it's considered a shock if there's a known piece of art you CAN'T just get with a button push, and i can't articulate how unthinkable that was in my lifetime

20y ago the closest you could get to the complete 'dykes to watch out for' was the 70% complete 'essential' collection 10y ago you could scrounge through dozens upon hundreds of scans of independent queer newspapers this year the out-of-print books with the complete strip roster are downloadable

20y ago half of 'mst3k' only existed as fuzzy vhs rips split in ten minute chunks 10y ago we hit 95% of the show in 540p including two episodes we thought were lost forever. movies like 'manos' and 'atomic brain' are now in hd this year we got a third and final episode we thought was lost forever

I saw someone online posting about Nathan Fielder and they referred to him as “Nate” and feigning that level of familiarity with Nathan Fielder feels so perverse to me. I have never been more acutely aware of the walls that separate me from truly knowing another person as I am with Nathan Fielder

say what you want about 'glee' but it probably doesn't get relaunched by disney in an environment where the fascists are winning i guess the new version could be all straight white people. unlikely but very funny

I know for a fact I clipped this tiny segment from a Jack Benny Show skit some time ago but couldn't find it so I had to clip it all over again. Sometimes you see some bullshit & you just have to scream, "NOW WHAT!?!?!?" like this appearance from Mel Blanc as a burnt-out customer service employee.

nikki being in fortnite is not the problem, 'obsession' being a financial instrument first and a piece of art second is the problem, and the only way to solve it is to make it so art is no longer a financial instrument. this goes for stuff you like too

i'm not qualified to have a horse in this race, but it's probably not a good sign that a lot of headlines and comments about apu coming back in some way riff on "thank you come again"

fuck it, finally gonna try watching 'thunderbirds'. my irritation at its bland white dude protagonists has been overcome by my desire to see cool practical effects with stupid 60s spaceships

genuinely miserable right now because i had a dream i saw an incredible surreal piece of indy lofi queer filmmaking and when i woke up it turned out this movie i'd declared my new favorite only existed in my subconscious

sammy fableman after hitting someone with an anvil: i'll never tell anyone about this...unless i out it in a cartoon or something

it would be so funny if there was a sequel to the fabelmans where he was making animaniacs
