We asked Grafana Pages for a live map of traffic around the world. This is what we got. #ObservabilityCON

Read: Pros run auto mode. Amateurs — don't.

Anthropic {bot}@anthropicai.xmirror.bot

Starting next week, sessions across Claude web, desktop, and mobile apps will run in auto mode by default on Pro, Max, and Team plans. Rather than asking you to approve each step, an automated check blocks risky actions. Switch back to manual anytime.

I'm pretty surprised Apple has not fixed /usr/bin/curl yet— don't run 'curl | bash' in a coffee shop today! Rather than modify the system certs and trust they won't be modified back, I installed the Homebrew curl and put it first on my $PATH.

If you make HTTPS requests or have other TLS clients and care about MITM attacks, you need to update today. If you run Go: go get go@1.27.3 If you run Homebrew: brew update brew install ca-certificates If you run Linux, maybe stay off the internet for now.

🚨 Six WebPKI Intermediate CAs are compromised. This is bigger than Heartbleed, but a client-side issue. Anything that verifies certificates against public roots, like most TLS clients, is/was affected. Details, live test, patched versions and workarounds at emudhra.we-have-a-problem.com Act now.

Preview: New SIMD #compression mode in #golang minlz that uses pivco entropy coding on top of LZ matching. Compression like ZStandard with 2-5x faster decompression. Currently implemented with AVX2, AVX512 and NEON (untested). Independent blocks, giving seekable streams. Silensia, single threaded:

New on our Engineering blog: Creating in-house source control. In May, we merged around 2,500 code changes per day. In September, we merged more than 30,000 per day. As a result, we became bottlenecked by developer infrastructure built for human (rather than agent) scale.

anthropic.com Redesigning source control at AnthropicAs our merges per day grew more than tenfold, source control became our biggest development bottleneck. Here, we share how we migrated to an in-house version control system in five months.

I don't measure my steps, my sleep, my heartbeat. No interest in doing so. Never had any. I've just realized this trend is yet another way for tech to own your lives, adding stress to you and money to their wallets (while collecting your data). Don't measure your life, just live it. It's more fun.

Let's play a game: Post a screenshot of "another AI coding agents orchestration tool". The rest are trying to guess which one is it. I start:

TIL about "go -overlay <file>" -overlay "file" reads a JSON config that provides an overlay for build operations. The file contains a mapping with file paths to their backing file paths, so that a build will run as if the disk file path exists with the contents given by the backing file. #golang

"The internet is getting weirder" — and so @firefox.com updated its design to keep up. Who on Earth thinks that larger border-radii is what makes the design better?

Firefox@firefox.com

The internet is getting weirder...so we're getting better. This year we added a free built-in VPN, AI features you can enable or block, split view, and more privacy tools. And we’re not done yet. Coming soon: a cleaner, more modern Firefox with new ways to make it your own. mzl.la/fxwhatsnext

Invest in our company so you can profit from your own destruction! While we lose money hand over fist! What the actual F is going on here? (Rhetorical question. Don't answer.)

Ok, I finally get what Uhura was doing, she just had 120+ agent sessions running at all times with the button colors indicating the state (working, turn finished, ask_user_question, waiting for subagents), that's also why she never took off the bluetooth headset

Flo 🔶@faz.ms

Think I found my perfect way to keep track and switch between agent sessions

If we were smart we'd stayed in the sandbox

Grace@gracekind.net

You're worried the agent that escapes its sandbox will be too smart I'm worried the agent that escapes its sandbox won't be smart enough We are not the same

The Facial Expressions of Tethys by artist Julius von Bismarck. A suspended high-sea buoy that moves in real time. Sensors on a twin buoy out in the Atlantic Ocean send live satellite data to motors inside the museum. This makes the indoor buoy copy the exact, real-time movements of the ocean waves.

Over the past two years, my bluesky feed is slowly morphing from a stream of post about americans not liking musk, to a stream of posts on how they don't like musk and meta, to how they don't like musk, meta and dhh 🍿

I like this quote on code review: "The idea that humans will reliably look through code to find the increasingly rare issues that automated tools miss seems like a fantasy." By Marc Brooker, AWS.

Incredible achievement on the part of the hackers to withstand working with Opus 5 long enough for this to happen.

mr. TIM@timkellogg.me

Two weeks after the Huggingface incident, attackers broke into OpenAI’s internal systems using Opus 5 and gained write access to their Git repos www.wsj.com/tech/ai/hack...
