Beautifully done and important trial. An effective mTb test that utilizes tongue swab specimens will be absolutely transformative for Tb diagnosis especially is resource limited settings. Definitely practice modifying. www.nejm.org/doi/full/10....
Looks like another Covid/Flu molecular test for home use just got approved in the U.S.! www.medicaldevice-network.com/news/fda-cle... I haven't looked at the details yet, but it's good news that companies still invest in this market after Lucira/Cue/3EO went bust.

This paper does not offer compelling evidence supporting prolonged immune dysregulation following COVID-19, and this type of study design is not informative regarding whether or not such a thing exists. At best, this is hypothesis-generating; however, the existing evidence base is not supportive.

I'm seeing a lot of discussion of this study, and so far everything I have seen goes well beyond what the data of this study allow us to conclude. Let's look at this together. A thread 🧵

PSA: @virussucks.com is completely unrelated to the virus.sucks project. It's a very small community, why would you pick the name of an established, well-known account? It's rude, confusing and a potential trademark violation.

2/ The accuracy of these molecular tests have saved our family from more than a couple of weeks of needless self-isolation of a family member - because we always self-isolate if we have symptoms of illness, & only rely on positive (rather than negative) results from rapid antigen tests.

Pluslife regularly checks their target gene sequences for alignment with new variants. They updated their guidance a few days ago and they confirmed that it works for current variants (including LP.8.1): virus.sucks/pluslife_en/...
