Apparently, I now have to verify my age in order to read direct messages (or access 'adult content' - though TBH, I didn't realise there was any on Bluesky). Therefore, please don't DM me.

Narrow path walking back up towards Uffinfton Castle from Dragon Hill, and there's finally no wind - but not really an ideal spot to stop and eat. It'll probably be hellawindy again when I'm back at the top. I'll probably end up chomping in the car. ๐Ÿ˜

Almost-lunch with a view. Sat down, got my lunch out of my bag... then it started. I'm making my way back. ๐Ÿ˜

Floopy is not a 'finally finished' game that I 'started in 1993'. It was origknally written and released in 1993. This version (which is *not* finished) is to get it working on 32-bit RISC OS. How dare @iconbar.com suggest I've finished something. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Thanks for the interview - that was fun to talk about Drobe to El Reg. Archive is the mag you need if you're using RISC OS. It's interesting that this AI era is resulting in a noticeable uptick in development output in the post-Acorn community. Agents can have a big impact in niches

Licensed to thrill.... Our new full-size RISC OS keyboard has arrived โ€” complete with number pad, Cherry MX Red switches and enough backlighting to make Q nervous. And we can still make look like 1987! Neither shaken nor stirred. Buy it at the #RISCOSLondon tomorrow. #RISCOS

Almost finished loading the car - just the monitors to go, then I can set off. Going to also load my belly with some lunch first, though.

Floopy has now been copied onto the RPi400s I use for #RISC_OS shows. I did so via a Soft Rock Software Collection USB stick, and left it on there in a folder called 'Bonus'. Externally, it's unmarked - so one random (un?)lucky customer could have a bonus item if they buy the Collection on USB.

I'm hearing some strong winds outside - I think 'The Six Million Dollar Storm' may be arriving in Bristol.

Nooooooo ๐Ÿ˜ญ If people are staying home because of the weather, the M25 should be nice and quiet for your journey! ๐Ÿ˜

FAST Stealth has a 256GB SATA SSD. But being Stealth, it has somewhere to hide another drive too. Multiple-drive RISC OS computing in a compact case, powered by our fast Block Device drivers. Storage capacity: respectable. Ability to make โ€œsneakyโ€ jokes: sadly unlimited.

#RISC_OS in VR, for when you really want to mix the old and the new. RPCEmu running RISC OS Direct 5.27 on the Steam Frame. Why? Well, why not!

FTR, I've deliberately made a point of posting about Floopy last, because some exhibitors leave their news until the last minute in the hope of being the last post before the show. If I make a point of always posting about something of mine last, that becomes impossible. ๐Ÿ˜›

Bryan - send the heavies around.

Looks like the RISC OS London show unfortunately coincides with some pretty stormy weather. Given how bad the M25 gets on a Saturday, I'm gonna have to give this year a hard pass. A shame, as it looks like one of the best shows in many years. Still, there's always ABug South in mid-November ๐Ÿ™

Bye bye 33 year old bug that I didn't know about until a week or so back. (Floopy. Not properly fixed yet, but I've found the problem* and applied a sticking plaster. The magic elixer to cure it properly will be done tomorrow. (Just casually trampling over memory...)

The code set a nasty's x coordinate as -1 to indicate it's no longer in play. However, it was still moving around - just not on screen. The clue was that if they were moving right when killed, they would reappear on the left; they moved right - back onto the map.

But if they were moving up, down, or left, they carried on moving in that direction - with the 'map' being updated accordingly; their location relative to the start of the map was being calculated, and the relevant tile number for an evil bastid was being written there. Oops. ๐Ÿ˜ณ

What was happening was that after killing in game nasties, eventually the game would crash, with the report suggesting the sprite plotting routine. Dereferenced pointer? (Eg to the sprite memory or sprite name) Nope.
