These people seem to think that the problem in the graphic novel industry is “not enough content” when already a huge portion of published novels by humans never get a readership 🤷‍♀️

The Singapore-based startup says its AI-powered platform can halve graphic novel production time and cost. “This is not a self-driving car,” notes CEO Anumeha Bisaria. “It’s more like handing a Ferrari to someone who already knows how to drive.” buff.ly/YOXZgZY

Replying to @segyges.bsky.social

There has been a great effort over many years to distance AI Safety discussion and policy from its origins and intellectual center, because its center is a sex cult started by a fan fiction author. If you want to be taken seriously you have to hide that.

I'm looking for this old political cartoon of a then vs. now two panel comic of a family around a piano singing and then the second panel is everyone listening passively to a record. Does anyone know who made it or where I can find it?

The best compliment I get about my books is that they make people cry. I can’t imagine shying away from the truth of emotion as an author or a reader.

A key point in Fahrenheit 451 is that books were banned because they made people depressed and uncomfortable. The novel's protagonist, Montag, is taken into custody after he reads a poem that makes a woman cry because she realizes the emptiness of her life.

Sketches from my roadtrip to and from Montana! 38 hours in the car gives you a lot of time and also apparently might trigger shingles :(( Most of these were sketched in the car and finished with color later.

Happy Birthday to an absolute joy of a co-worker! You inspire me so much every day!

i know when i sneakily steal someone's book to create an unauthorized and uncredited adaptation i always make sure to write "It is not possible for me to overstate how important Rachel Hope Cleves’ book on the subject was" and point readers "towards our Holy Mother of knowledge Rachel Hope Cleves"

thene@thene.bsky.social

out it goes: my long post about Rachel Hope Cleves's claim that Tillie Walden plagiarised her book. It's long because Cleves's claim is much, much more bizarre than it looked on first reading. I'm not going to bury the lede here. Cleves's claim does not hold up. buttondown.com/thene/archiv...

i am working on a very, very long blog post that could really have fit into a skeet: When someone posts that "this website/journal article/etc proves my dramatic claim!!!" and then does not link to the website, journal article, etc, it is because it does not in fact prove their dramatic claim.

I finished East of Eden for the first time and learned that they're doing a Netflix adaptation. I don't really see what a filmed version can add to the story though?

I'm sorry..... What?!

I hope we as a culture are finally coming back around to “small talk is good actually” because you need to slowly get to know someone before being vulnerable and intimate and small talk helps you build that relationship

Plus! While dating, small talk tells you how well this person can intergrate into your friend group and wether or not they will embarrass you at the company Christmas party

watching people you love and respect cutting corners to keep creative pace with an idiot machine, starve themselves to keep pace with a new, more impossible ideal, it is overwhelmingly sad some days and no one is truly immune to it

I think the AI bubble has proven that capital would have us all peeing in bottles if they could. The only reason creatives and tech professionals haven’t yet is simply because we were rarified enough.

Parents are fed up with friends and relatives giving their kids “personalized” AI-generated storybooks with characters resembling their kids. Apart from data privacy concerns, literacy experts say these garbled and convoluted narratives could be an impediment to learning how to read.

Every time I start to think I might want to try and dip my toe back into making some kind of video content, I watch something or read some comments that drive me back into my little hide-y hole. No thanks crazy internet ppl!

I switched from using tiktok to using IG to watch short form video (not a huge improvement, but I dunno, something?) and two things I've noticed. 1) There are WAY fewer ads. Tiktok would give me one every two or three videos and IG only gives them to me after like- half an hour of scrolling

2) There definitely aren't that many content creators out there. After just a few weeks, I got almost all of the people I watch back on my TL even without searching. If you wanted to do short form video, you probably have a good shot at it rn.

Worth watching if you've never seen it, and worth a rewatch if you have!

think instead of using Loren Ipsum (traditional placeholder text for graphic designers) someone stupidly decided to use chat gpt instead. Someone with so little knowledge of graphic design to not even know what Loren Ipsum is

Rick@combattlerrickv.exportaud.io

I dont know if this is brazen or it has just become so normalized that people who use the stuff don't see it anymore but the text that opens the final paragraph on the right on the big slides for your sdcc presentation is WILD

I haven't heard it mentioned anywhere else, but did anyone notice that the Trojan horse in the new Odyssey movie looks like Blucifer? The horse statue that killed it's maker at the Denver Airport?

I really do not understand celebrities who pursue money at all costs. Like, really? Do you need to shill for a sports betting app? The second I have enough to retire I would fuck right off.
