I used to follow this Japanese guy that often went sailing for months and posted pics of his retro macintosh programming adventures. It was so 80s cyberpunk and I miss that. I wish I could be that cool.

<rant> I took a look at the Omarchy "source code" and my god, the slop. It's just miles of slop bash code. I'm not in grief, I use AI as a coding ASSISTANT, but this is just pure slop. And it's mostly scripts to to run more ai agents to do more ai slop. I hated DHH, now I loathe him. </rant>

So GT is increasing the tuition of OMSCS again and it's now charging an out-of-state tuition price for the online program... That is just ridiculous.

A bill moving in Congress this week would require ID checks for all internet users, just to use many online tools, and could lock minors out entirely. The GUARD Act is a sweeping age-gating mandate. www.eff.org/deeplinks/2...

The GUARD Act is even more invasive than other forms of age-verification, requiring that imperfect AV methods "reliably and accurately" determine age. This likely means that government docs are going to be even more central. It freezes your account and chat history if you refuse to upload an ID.

The GUARD Act would prohibit companies from letting kids under 18 interact with what the legislation calls "AI companions.” It just passed the Senate Judiciary Committee.

I feel sorry for developers who are now locked into using AI to code because they lost that ability due to using AI for coding.
