"A documentary is a form of journalism meant to discover and reveal the truth." No it's not. You have failed the assignment. See me after class.

“'You Can See Everything' is a hilarious, thrilling, fascinating, beautiful piece of art. What it certainly is not is a documentary, and it’s dangerous to pretend that it is,” writes Theranos whistleblower Tyler Shultz. https://bit.ly/4Bk2nDJ

having flashbacks to snyder fans doing this and being called toxic and wasting their money that could have gone to good causes

Not that I ever feel bad for voting third party or skipping races on my ballot but it is nice to know Ramaswamy is so cooked nobody will be able to yell at me for not wanting to help Amy Acton to win because she’s a fucking terf

Kaptur isn’t on my ballot but that’s another race I’d gleefully leave blank. Transphobia is unfortunately the raison d’etre for Ohio Democrats this election and I have heard more about youth sports in my past three months than the entire rest of my life combined.

Also I have heard all the exact same jokes approximately three hundred times each in the past 24 hours you all need clown college.

I choose not to engage with today’s internet drama on the basis that I seriously doubt this will get these people to go away or convince any of their fans they may have been wrong about anything.

Best case scenario is the guy goes away and his wife leads the company (or a new one that is functionally the same) doing all the same terrible things. Worst case is this ends up like Super Best Friends Play for genocide lovers where they all split off and become individually huge.

feeling the ennui of a general mourning the loss of his greatest opponent watching that leaked mass effect trailer. you were meant to release and be really successful then i would critique the post-9/11 only a black ops strongman unburdened by bureaucracy can make the hard, violent choices ideology

Feel bad for Gibney and his Musk documentary but it’s been a long time since I’ve seen a movie make this little commercial sense. Four hours long, about a guy who everyone hears too much about already and has already made up their minds on, releasing the same day as another more hyped very-long doc

I kinda think documentaries don't work if you make them about a subject so polarizing where everyone's already dug in their heels. I kinda think YCSE works because Holmes *isn't* polarizing. Most people heard about her and were like "damn that's fucked up didn't affect me though."

📢 INDIE FOR HIRE! OPEN FOR CONTRACTS & GIGS! 📢 ATTN: indie devs! streamers! people who need visual sizzle! i'm now on the market for gamedev work (mostly unity, some godot/unreal), commission work and more! i'm an adaptable generalist w pro experience, and i've got some amazing deals for YOU! 🫵

Okay I know I put a curse on Taika Waititi but the man has suffered enough. Please save him. Nobody deserves this. You've got it in you man just put out one movie that isn't about a quirky idiot you can do it I can't keep watching this happen to you.

Deadlock looks really cool and it seems to be the thing everyone is playing now but I can’t do another ARTS. I can’t. I have legit trauma from the Mumble chats I had to have in those matches. I look at a “secret shop” and “recommended builds” and I start calling the suicide hotline.

Didn’t get to meet Tim online but revisiting an era when AAA games could take big swings warts and all was really nice. I’ve still never played a game that tried these mechanics again and I wish some indie dev out there would take a crack at it.

Double Fine@doublefine.com

Awaken, mortals, for it is ROCKTOBER! It’s been 17 years since Brütal Legend first began melting faces, and as the prophecy foretold, Tim will be playing throughout the day on Xbox and PC to help you snag that “Six Degrees of Schafer” achievement. Good luck, roadies! 🤘🏽🖤🤘🏽

God damn it I am unemployed and used my last fun money to get Control Resonant, I do not need Biddy Blas and his hysterically hot voice actor in my life right now.

Here is the imdb profile shot of Richard Summers-Calvert, the Biddy Blas voice actor

it’s ben@yotsuben.bsky.social

you know, the voice actor for Biddy Blas has gotta be having the time of their life lmao

I am only 25% joking when I say he’d be the perfect casting for Harry DuBois

Ten years ago, you met the beetle. Over a million of you survived. Thank you for playing Thumper.

Control Resonant is done. A competent but flawed melee action game with some extremely trippy and cool mechanics and environments that unfortunately falls short in a few key areas, including ones where Remedy has excelled before.

Still, you can do a lot worse than a pretty solid hack and slash with genuinely unique and seamless gravity-shifting and some very impressive scripted sequences.

(I have to laugh at the portion of the fanbase that were genuinely upset at the idea of playing as Dylan, or anyone other than Jesse. How did you get so attached to her? She has all the personality of a plank of wood. Dylan’s redemption arc is significantly more fertile ground for characterization.)

I sadly have to ding Matthew Porretta for giving his first ever bad performance here. Telling this story naturally means showing Darling’s darker side, and the man is tragically too naturally charming to sell the character as an abuser.

I knew it wouldn’t be a perfect game, but in a world where everyone is terrified of putting out anything less than masterpieces with how much investment and return is needed to justify AAA games, Remedy is one of the last devs of this scope willing to try things that are new warts and all.

Remedy has always been better at atmosphere and world building than characters and arcs though, and a game that really drills down on Dylan and his redemption arc can feel hokey in how comically evil and abusive his circumstances can get.

Furthering my point, caring for a dog that’s tried fifty different expensive and ineffective medications, having to keep a cone on him 24/7, and having a partner who can help but I never get to see is making me relate to this movie a lot now actually

Doctor Ironic@vardacinemas.art

Last month I watched If I Had Legs I'd Kick You and didn't get it. Maybe I never will, considering it's a film by mothers for mothers. But I think it's important to regularly consume art you don't understand. How else would you see perspectives like that? It's one of the best ways to build empathy.

AI is not an engineering phenomenon, it is a marketing one. This entire thing hasn’t actually been about inventing anything new, it’s about convincing C-suites that the latest iteration of Cleverbot is now good enough to replace workers.

Anil Dash@anildash.com

I can’t emphasize this enough — “AI” wasn’t born corrupt and toxic. For ~75 years, it was mathematicians and scientists doing interesting, thoughtful work and trying to solve problems, making only the usual human mistakes. What “AI” did to machine learning is as tragic as what it did to artists.

Pleased to announce I am directing the next Batman movie. I am also writing it. And starring in it. As Batman.

My last employers put the position they laid me off from back on their job board as soon as my severance payments ended and then closed it the second I noticed and applied 🥰

I acknowledge people’s criticisms of Innaritu as a director and all I’ll say is I think there’s much worse flaws you can have as an artist
