just remembered trump's tax returns got leaked and he said in a debate that he'd close the loopholes because he knows how rich people game the system, then he cut taxes for the rich and is now exempting his family from tax audits. lol.

terrible. 20 years ago, the internet was full of hobbyist blogs and forums. over time, these have been replaced by paywalled substacks and private discord channels, each a walled garden. google's decision to prioritize AI just makes it less likely people will create free, public info

Google is transforming Search from a list of links into an AI-powered experience filled with conversational answers, autonomous agents, and interactive interfaces — a shift that could further reduce traffic to publishers across the web.

this graduation speech moment is notable, and her amazed shock at having failed to read the room feels instructive. when you're inside the bubble, you think everybody else is. but everybody isn't.

this is really heartwarming. two men exchanging symbolic tokens of things the other has no interest in (football, peace)

Pope Leo XIV gifted Marco Rubio a plant of peace. In return, Marco Rubio gave the pope a crystal football. The pope’s response? “Wow. Okay.”

I love a pop culture tattoo, I need more. What should I get? Already have: - Rocky Horror - UGK - Disco Elysium - DJ Screw - Spirited Away And the rest is just art history stuff

After years of not having a rice cooker "because my Instant Pot can do it" I've finally seen the light of Zojirushi. How did I ever live like this before? All hail the NS-ZCC10 5.5 cup rice cooker. All glory. Hallelujah.

Invited someone to come see a band and they "didn't know there would be a cover." Cmon dude.

Now that the Supreme Court has ordered the Trump administration to refund companies what they paid in tariffs, yet there are still tariffs in place, what's the plan? Consumers continue to fork money over to corporations who will later get another refund?

Pretty frustrating that the New York Times is crediting AP with uncovering the existence of Aadam’s archive when I reported on it 15 months prior. chicagoreader.com/music/gossip...

From the mid-1980s until just a few years ago, Aadam Jacobs recorded thousands of club shows, including an early Nirvana performance. Volunteers are adding them to an online archive, presenting an extraordinary snapshot of how the Chicago music scene has evolved over four decades.

I watched The Talented Mr. Ripley and its style is everything I've dreamed of. Sharp suits, casual outfits, etc. The clothing blends the Coastal American Prep of Ralph Lauren with Italian Sprezzatura. There are tailored suits in this movie I'd *kill* for.

And finally, the messy elegance of Freddie Miles (Philip Seymour Hoffman). Everything about this says "I don't give a fuck and I'm still cooler than you." It just makes you want to *be* him.

Look at this shirt. The texture. The shape and fit of it. It's got simple details that set it apart--the notch in the sleeve, the contrast collar. And it's a knit. Notice the accessories--the watch, the ring, the sunglasses. The effortlessness is so cool.

Only Cate Blanchett could take a vibe from 100 years ago and rock it so well. She looks like a movie star, and even if she *wasn't*, I'd believe she was.
