“£10 off an axolotl when a setup is purchased” Animals sold in shops have no idea where they are, why they’re there, or where they’re heading. Imagine the confusion they must feel. Imagine how they’d feel knowing that a human had assigned an arbitrary price to their entire life.

Andy Burnham is asked about Rosebank and Jackdaw oil and gas fields. He says "Use of our resources can support and accelerate a clean energy future" We are truly down the rabbit hole with this utter nonsense. Invest in renewables, insulate homes & say no to fossil fuels.

The BBC needs to provide an explanation for this.

Over 294,250 families in Gaza don't have any sort of shelter that can protect them from winter storms. Available shelter supplies can reach just 18% of those in need, as the Israeli government is currently blocking 8,600 emergency shelter kits from entering Gaza.

Some ground rules that have helped us: - Go outside your bubble, try new social media channels - Don’t underestimate the power of WhatsApp (although less so in the U.S.) - Post on the Instagram grid, not just stories - Watch every Instagram video until the end before sharing - IGNORE THEM

After the first round elections, Congressman André Janones created a WhatsApp channel titled “Lula’s Army.” It ballooned to 10 million people following his commands on how to behave online to counteract Meta’s far-right-favouring algorithms. The right knows how to use socials. We must learn, too.

I’m not a political journalist, so was gladly surprised at the community I found here last night. To Americans anxious about the upcoming elections, a key thing we learned in Brazil that might help you: DO NOT engage with the far-right online. Don’t share rage bait. Amplify your people. Ignore them.

In one day, two politicians - Bolsonaro in Brazil and Vucic in Serbia - with ties to Trump have lost surprise elections thanks to high turnout. The rise of the international far-right is not inevitable.

In his acceptance speech, Lula says he will work to regulate digital platforms in Brazil. “Digital crimes must be dealt with like real-life crimes.” This comes after Meta directly interfered with the Brazilian elections, favouring Flávio Bolsonaro.

The achievement of Serbian students overthrowing Aleksandar Vučić can't be overstated. In 2024, they began protesting. In 2025, they transformed a protest movement into civil dissidence. In 2026, they became a political party — and two months later, crushed a corrupt state-entrenched authoritarian.

I literally spent a year investigating how the government props up Shell, and then they do this!

Currently wondering what message the UK govt thought it was sending by dressing up the Minister for Net Zero in a literal Shell logo.

The government didn’t just approve Jackdaw, they also reiterated their support for so-called tiebacks - a dodge to allow yet more new drilling without new licenses. This deserves almost as much scrutiny as Jackdaw and has got barely any of it, so I raised it in the Chamber.

Ahead of the budget, I met with constituents in Parliament to discuss measures that would *actually* bring down bills, including increasing Capital Gains Tax & making council tax fairer. Of course, we also talked tackling rip-off rents & how local groups can feed into & boost the work I'm doing.

When a worker wears an Amazon vest, drives an Amazon van and delivers on an Amazon-controlled route, but Amazon denies they work for the company — that's exploitation.

Palestinian families in the West Bank rely on the olive harvest for their income. Israeli settlers know that—so they burn down olive groves and attack Palestinians, with the goal of making life in the West Bank unlivable for them. Settlers have damaged more than 2,500 olive trees this year alone.

Many people don’t like to think about the fact that lots of animals kept as pets are wild animals. Some are caught from the wild, of course, but even if they’re captive bred, they are *still* wild animals. They often retain all their wild instincts, and putting them in a cage doesn’t change that.
