Some interesting things going on at Turner Pinball. The glass comes off the top without needing to be slid through the rails. And the lower playfield is almost one giant circuit board. #pinball #pinballrepair

Ugh! My friend using Grok has messed up my formulas on our mutual “Arcade Games Scores” spreadsheet. Bing’s AI totally mislead some programming stuff in Unity, setting me back a couple days. And a co-worker is sending AI emails and has lost all trust. As they didn’t bother to read the email.

I was able to visit the Museum of Public Housing in Chicago. It was a good, educational experience. The neighborhood it’s in is quite safe, btw.

The museum included recreations of the old Cabrini-Green rooms from various time periods. You were encouraged to check things out. This was a recipe for “Helen’s Surprise”. It was in a re-creation of an apartment from the 1960s. And tonight, I’m making said recipie.

This is of particular interest as Tim at Pinball Hall of Fame keeps looking at picking up old hotels and revamping them for low income housing. That, and I work in resort architecture.

Film you have watched more than 6 times as a gif. Hard mode (really?): no Star Wars/Trek, lotr, Marvel, Disney, Ghibili.

Off to Chicago for the Pinball Expo! I slept like a kid on Christmas Eve, as in… not at all.

Star Wars had a bad flipper sleeve, and a bad EOS switch causing all sorts of errors. That got fixed. I got a DE Time Traveler running for the first time in years. It got a good cleaning, soldered some wires, reseated the sound roms, new rubber, etc. It may be sold off as it’s a duplicate.

I’m rather proud of the Time Traveler. It was a project started - and finished. Lots of things get started over there. That’s the easy part. Seeing it through is quite different.

Tim was able to track down the person that had the last of the metal discs for the Metal Typer machines. He picked up the dies and rights to make more and may be putting them back into production!

“Let’s Play Old Arcade Machines!” I knocked 41 arcade machines off the list last weekend. Pole Position, Tetris, and Star Wars are still great fun. #comic #arcade

An early fear was of Foghorn Leghorn. Because I lived in the country, and that sucker was MEAN.

In honor of scary media month: what is the first piece of media you remember truly frightening you as a child?

It was a co-worker of 10yrs last day. As well as finding out another is out for probably a year on medical. So, I went and watched Forgotten Island tonight. The plot is all over the place and it sometimes doesn’t make sense. But, whatever. It was still a fun watch.

Today was G2E, the gaming convention. Lots of fun, as usual. Normally, I’d post pictures of Tigers in games, but the amount of AI now is simply painful. I’m pretty sure AI agents are making the games as well.

In some good news, VSR rebuilt a Sigma Derby with some more modern parts to improve its reliability.

Tonight at Pinball, we ran a wire from the intake on the ticket dispensers to an old Seeburg Jukebox remote. That way, some kid hands us a ton of tickets and we can easily credit it to the machine without waiting for them to insert them all in. And it’s cool.

I ended up seeing the Foo Fighters last night. It was the first time I’d gone to any show even close to this large. I have a lot of feelings on it. But, that was a LOUD show. Even with earplugs, it was a loud show.

I guess I can post this.. The Pinball Hall of Fame just got a Sega Hologram in. A special one that’s made of stainless steel! (Not just some cladding) They are working on getting it up and running reliably for everyone to play.

“I wonder why I always dress in black, Why there is always cat hair on my lap, And why does my appearance always have a somber tone? Well, there cat hair on everything that I own..”

Of course your furry stickers get noticed at the Pinball Hall of Fame! Is this you, @jymfox.com ? They don’t seem to mind them on the poles outside. Just keep them out of the interior.

A couple of mildly entertaining plush critters at the PHoF. Lots of Bluey plushies go through the machines, but that was the first time I’d seen a plush Aunt Trixie.

Whenever a movie has a slow section, a jump scare or action sequence is imminent. I wonder if this has much effect on our day to day lives. Are we anticipating action during slow segments of the day? Does it affect our ability to relax or feel safe in slow and quiet areas?

That was a filthy pinball machine. (data East Hook) But, it’s cleaning up nicely. It has some board issues, but I’ll bet we can get it going. #pinball #pinballhallofFame

Tonight, I finished a graphic novel version of Watership Down. I’d never seen the movie before. But, I feel like I understand some of my rabbit friends a bit better.

Tim and I were assembling plastic acorns full of toys for the machines at PHoF. Some guy walks up and starts talking telling a long drawn out story about pinball. Assembling acorns isn’t rocket science! Peope are working! At least help out!

I was reading Shephard of the Hills. It’s boring? He takes naps all day, talks about how great everything smells, hates the neighbors cat, and got really excited about seeing a deer? That was when I realized I was reading “German Shepherd of the Hills”!

Iv found a lot of joy in playing guitar lately. There’s a human neuropsychology book Iv been readying. But, while fascinating, It is a very long and hard book to read. I’ll sit back and play video games, but it’s just feels way too long and drawn out. But, playing guitar seems about right.

Ever have a piece of gear that you just didn’t click with? I just did a straight trade of a Roland j6 for a Boss SE2 Space Echo pedal. The j2 just didn’t inspire me. I like the Juno 60, but it’s too friendly for the stuff I make. Gear I don’t use vs gear I will. Just keepin it in the ECHOsystem.

Set Phasers for Fun! I got the Sega Star Trek machine at Pinball Hall of Fame (mostly) working. The audio is out, but the game is otherwise playable. It plays like a fast moving Battlezone, with more stuff to do.

I love finding old price tags on video games. This was ¥6480 back in 2000. Or about $60.56 at that old exchange rate. With inflation, that’s equivalent to around $113

Nothing too crazy today. The local RC car track has a buggy track set up, so I got to drive that for the first time in months. And I got to walk this big dog.

I went to the First Friday artwalk here in Vegas tonight. It was the first time in about 15? Years. It was alright. I saw some local bands and bought some music. Met come comic book artists. Just good fun. The crowd now looks very EDC. Parking is still way too expensive.

There was a car show that was here. Featuring the usual video gamey stuff. And a Toyota bB Opendeck! First time I had seen one in person.

I got off work early and it being 106f, I went out for ice cream. The place was empty! What do people even do in this city besides go home and watch TV?

I was playing Beck’s E-Pro on guitar today, and it just sounded off. Turns out, they tuned the guitar down a 1/4 step! So, the sounds are between the common sounds found on say, piano keys. Just kinda cool.

My mom discovered Gary Newman’s “Savage” album. She says she has listened to it all the way through “at least five times”.
