I have read this and can confirm SLJ knows what’s up. Absolutely pre-order this for every child you know (plus extras for children you don’t).

Kate Milford@katemilford.bsky.social

It's official--in addition to being a @jrlibraryguild.bsky.social pick, SEACRITTERS by @lubellwoo.bsky.social and me has its first star, from @slj.com!

What? THREE DOLLARS? Value of the century.

You can get a digital copy of BUBBLE from me, Sarah Morgan and @tangocharlie.bsky.social for $2.99! It's a funny, action-packed satire of the horrors of the gig economy and it was nominated for 2 Eisners! Based on the @maximumfun.org podcast of the same name! us.macmillan.com/books/978125...

One of my all time faves

What’s that you say? Liz has a new book out which even the Telegraph is saying is even more unhinged than the last one? Wonderful, I’ll post this then.

Didn't have 'buy a new [refurbished] phone' on my to-do list this Admin Monday, but here we are. Thanks, relentless march of progress, for rendering my perfectly good pocket camera with additional email and browser capabilities into a non-phone.

I also have to buy a fridge, hire a man/van to move a load of books, and get someone to rebuild my chimney, so uh ... I'm gonna be selling some art. Keep an eye on this feed.

I’m not a political journalist, so was gladly surprised at the community I found here last night. To Americans anxious about the upcoming elections, a key thing we learned in Brazil that might help you: DO NOT engage with the far-right online. Don’t share rage bait. Amplify your people. Ignore them.

When did "me and —" take over as standard from "— and I"? I was taught in the 80s that it was proper to put the other person first, but even people older than me are saying "me and" by default now.

More proof of my theory that a sizeable % of the population experiences thinking as an unpleasant itching sensation inside the skull which must be avoided if possible.

Watching the demands of social media monetization increase and the goal posts constantly shift without any kind of official condemnation or regulation is crazy. These ppl are being worked to the bone and they don't even know it

That last one is particularly easy to mess up. We can trick ourselves into thinking that just because something is salacious, dramatic, or entertaining it's worth listening to, but ultimately consuming internet drama podcasts and videos give you nothing of value while making you less empathetic.

I have seen the Ghosts That were in your movie And which you were probably Saving for Hallowe'en Forgive me They were adorable So sweet And so well written

My “constantly taking the dementia test” story has a lot of people asking why Biden hates America so much, and then Putin told me with tears in his eyes that I’ve stopped more wars than anyone, and that’s why trans mutilization is bad.

Hey, we saw your post bemoaning the fact that media is conglomerating in the hands of a few billionaires, and thought we’d mention that you can, in fact, support independent, artist-owned media for less than you’d pay for any mainstream streaming service. maximumfun.org/join

I feel it's important to share this again. The internet is so hostile toward creators nowadays. I've seen people have their work stolen, and no longer feel comfortable sharing their creations. We can do better. Let's be supportive to the people that make this a better place! 💞

the entire bioware situation is just another episode of how now, more than ever, YOU are important to the small indie things you enjoy getting somewhere. talk about the things you love. buy it physical if you can. make art. share links. don't just go 'everything i love is dying', that's how it does.

Whenever someone says that electricity is expensive because of decarbonisation, there are only two possibilities Either they are knowingly lying to you Or they are the victims of disinformation, and have been fooled by someone who was lying to them

I love Radio 4 Extra and it gave me some of my favourite jobs including Newsjack. I am gutted to hear this news, not least because it is my almost constant companion in my car. I want to be able to stumble across programmes that I might not have chosen to listen to - please sign the petition

Athena Kugblenu@athenakugblenu.bsky.social

Keep pushing this guys. The people who love this station the most probably aren't chronically online like we are so we need to spread this about a bit you.38degrees.org.uk/petitions/sa...

Fun fact, Laika movies very rarely make their budgets back at the box office, but they keep putting out bangers entirely because they have the one good rich boy in the entire ecosystem.

‘Wildwood’ director Travis Knight on AI: “A pencil is a tool. A paintbrush is a tool. A 3D printer is a tool. A digital capture is a tool. AI is not a tool. AI can go fuck itself.”

Having spent the first 9 yrs listening to 4x online by necessity, it was a THRILL to be able to pluck it from the air when I moved here. I don't know who I'd be without it uploading the comedy archive to my brain. It was a fast track to assimilation; decades of pop culture references, concentrated.

The Society of Authors has withdrawn from the ill-conceived concession to the dark side that was the "ethical GenAI" charter because of the mass and vocal outrage of authors. Publishers need to be made afraid of this level of anger too.

Tealin reposted

Personally, I'd rather one license fee to subscriptions to Amazon, Disney, Apple, Paramount, Discovery, Netflix, Sky, You Tube etc. It's actually very funny that in this climate of endless direct debits, no one has really been able to make a good case for the license fee

Closing Radio 4 Extra will not create savings of note. It commissions no original programmes. It pays modest radio royalties, producers and hosts. That's it. So the BBC archive is gonna be left to collect dust?

I am proud of my ability to choose friends who write such perfect capsule reviews. Sean's summation of The Princess and the Frog will live in my heart forever.

The Street Fighter movie is like watching a child ride a bike for the first time. They start out strong, get a little wobbly, hit a bump, get their balance back, then immediately veer into a life sized wax statue of Rush Limbaugh before getting attacked by a conjoined camel.

Alison says it all. Radio 4 Extra wasn’t an apocryphal service for superannuated listeners. It was a cultural resource and a reminder of a braver, expertly curated BBC.

Alison@alisondennison.bsky.social

I'll miss Radio 4extra. I don't think its listeners will transfer to seeking the same stuff out on BBC Sounds. That's not how it works. The station introduces listeners to stuff. And I'm using the plural because individual algorithms are a lonely replacement. I don't want to be a listener (singular)
