This was super cool and as a big Tetris fan I'm bummed I didn't get it.

Tetrominoes, the elemental blocks of Tetris and some would say the whole of videogaming at large have been captured and turned into this modular blanket! That's right! Modular! You can separate, rotate and reform the individual blocks to make your blanket as long, wide or s h a p e d as you need it!

I've really been enjoying Combolands. I am still far from good at the game and this is the first game I feel like I really unlocked the Industrial strategy.

Drone photographer Theresa Graham (tgraham.photography on IG) captured this Ornate Eagle Ray (Aetomylaeus vespertilio) off Ningaloo Reef in Western Australia. These rays are called the "unicorn of the sea": fewer than 100 sighting have been documented. We suspect they're critically endangered.

Step 1: Open your preferred text messaging app. Step 2: Scroll until you see someone you genuinely love, but maybe haven’t talked to for a while. Maybe it’s been couple weeks, months, of even years. Step 3: Text them, and see how they’re doing.

In other news, today marks 10000 years married. Married on 10/10/10, so it seems only fitting to celebrate anniversaries in binary as well.

I lost most of my afternoon wrestling with the home server. I tried resizing some partitions, and it broke the boot process, which turned into a real ordeal. Thankfully, no data was lost, but it was a frustrating way to spend the day.

JK, not finished yet. The SSD might be hitting its lifetime. Ordered a new one from Amazon and will be tackling it tonight or tomorrow.

"My stomach churned as I took his pen and signed my name on a blank page. On the horizon, the world burned." (This quote is out of context but I just loved this turn of phrase. Greatly enjoying Mary Robinette Kowal's _The Calculating Stars_. I'll finish it tomorrow I think.

I have no idea why. My wife and I have tried Peaky Blinders a few times and bounced off it. But we picked it back up this week and we're in. It finally landed.

My dad has been gone more than a decade, but he would have been 85 today. This is a reminder for those of you with good relationships to your parents to give them a call.

Wife and I are watching Reacher s04e07 and it's weird. We have mixed memories of this episode even though we've been working through the season. But we both remember different parts of the episode.

The first building being a boutique hotel says a lot about the life of an NFL coach/player. Showing off the therapy room and such.

I've never played Borderlands. I had no idea what was going on in this movie. But the line up of Cate Blanchett, Jamie Lee Curtis, Jack Black and Kevin Hart is truly shocking.

Pleasantly surprised and impressed by the performance of my home Minecraft server when accessing it via Tailscale. Related: Dried kelp farm is self sustaining and feeds my larger storage automatically.

My day today: 1. Take mother in law to the airport after her visit 2. Start another new story idea 3. Build an extension on my Minecraft forever world Nether hub 4. Dinner with a friend in from out of town 5. Researched a trip with the wife

I have officially hit that age where I get introspective and thoughtful about minor everyday conveniences. Like this morning I packed 2 boxes for shipping & I was considering how it wasn't that long ago this required wooden crates & a great deal more effort than cardboard box, printed label, & tape.

It is a textbook #firstworldproblem but holy jeezus the unsolicited texts and calls to me as a homeowner from people is insane. So many contractors want me to know they're doing work nearby, or asking if I want a new roof, or people trying to get me to sell for cash.
