“Canada to join EU” is such an irritating non-story. Geography is destiny. Canada would have to change a load of agri regs and INFURIATE the Québécois dairy farmers to join the SM, total no-no.

Will Mark Carney call on the 10 non-ratifying EU countries to ratify the EU-Canada trade agreement - CETA? Naysayers include France, Italy, Poland and Ireland. Maybe ratify that before touting Canada's potential as a future EU member state!

Further to last RT, this is why those headlines about Canada being done with the US, permanent state of trade war, Canada joining the EU etc are so overheated. Ford (and Carney) swing between emollience and aggression. Canada will need to deal, just not on the terms Trump offered the other week.

washingtonpost.comOntario’s premier urges thaw in U.S.-Canada trade war: ‘We’re best friends.’After days of trading insults with President Donald Trump, Ontario Premier Doug Ford said it was vital for the American and Canadian economies that the countries strike a trade deal.
