Seven of the ten are owners of major media outlets and/or tech platforms. All of those seven have gotten into bed with the Trump administration in some way (as we documented in Free Press' Media Capitulation Index)

The only reason I can think of for this news not being absolutely everywhere is that large media orgs don’t want to be seen as putting their thumbs on the scales a week before election day. And that’s cowardly as shit.

BASH: The worry is that we end up in a situation where President Trump tries to overturn the election and the result of that could be like what we saw after January 6-- BLANCHE: Stop it! You gotta stop it with that! That's crazy BASH: This is a president who has a history

Kushner deploys an army of lawyers to stop publication of Matthew Cole’s book, “Princes & Thieves,” which reveals treasonous levels of corruption, including a billion-dollar slush fund from Middle Eastern govternments to manipulate U.S. foreign policy. @nataliekorach.bsky.social reports:

status.newsVanity Fair's Kushner ConundrumSimon & Schuster quietly released Matthew Cole’s book two days early, Status has learned, as an excerpt in Vanity Fair prompts threats from Kushner’s legal team.

As Korach notes, Kushner's legal threats are largely bluster used to force the publisher to capitulate before any formal legal process begins. The hope here is that Condé Nast and Simon & Schuster don't cave to billionaire-funded pressure and settle out of court should the threats become real.

The lesson of course, is one we should have learned by now: Suck it up; take these billionaires to court where any specious claims can be aired out and revealed for what they are. You can recoup any losses from legal fees through the process, with the added benefit of exposing elitist corruption.

So Russia is doing midterm dirty work for the Trump GOP. Meanwhile in Moscow, Trump's envoy praises Putin as a "humanitarian," while the White House undermines Zelenskyy's efforts to protect Ukrainian civilians from Russian missile and drone strikes. Yes, Russia, Russia, Russia. #QuidProQuo

The Trump-MAGA freakout over Senator Elissa Slotkin's call for real oversight of Trump is complete horseshit, and every Democrat and journalist should be loudly saying so. This is how MAGA baits MSM into elevating propaganda into "controversy." New from me: newrepublic.com/article/2168...

newrepublic.comTrump’s Vile Tirade About Sen. Elissa Slotkin Exposes Sleazy MAGA ScamThe Michigan senator said nothing remotely alarming, but MAGA-world ginned it into a “controversy.” Democrats need to learn how to stand up to this nonsense.

Puck continues its campaign to rectify Bari Weiss' career, dismissing the bruhaha around her disastrous turn at CBS as the byproduct of a "dwindling guild" of journalists who are just jealous of Weiss' success. In this latest defense, though, Puck does disclose its conflict of interest... hmmm.

puck.newsBari Weiss Derangement SyndromeThe more nuanced and complicated reality is that Bari Weiss’s CBS News has become a proxy for all the anxieties of the news business itself.

That conflict—as noted by @oliverdarcy.bsky.social—revolves around a deal btw Puck & Gerry Cardinale's RedBird Capital for an investment making Redbird majority investor in the digital startup. Cardinale sits on Paramount's board & served as the architect of Ellison's $111 billion WBD deal ...hmmm

status.newsBari’s ByersPuck's lead media reporter has gone to unusual lengths to defend Bari Weiss’ disastrous CBS News overhaul—all as the outlet pursues a lucrative deal with one of Paramount’s top investors.

Current state of the WH press secretary is Fox & Friends's Ainsley Earhardt gently asking Katie Zacharia if she'd like to clean up anything she said last night on Fox's Hannity. The degree of "not ready for primetime" here can't be overstated.

As ownership caps fall and mega-mergers unite giant media studios, what happens to the future of real journalism? @sportshotchris.bsky.social sits down with Free Press's Matt Wood and tech journalist @karlbode.com to unpack how media consolidation fuels "enshittification" and erodes local news

I'm not a conspiracy theorist, but we'd be wrong to ignore these warning signs and should prepare ways to defend against another Trumpist attempt to undermine a free and fair election. //ends
