The problem with all these ‘hearing spectacles’ is that those being questioned face no real consequences for feigned ignorance or outright refusal to answer. If the Democrats don’t start enforcing accountability for such obstruction, the whole thing risks becoming an increasingly tedious farce.

Twelve years (and 2.1 billion views) ago, when my brother and I decided that we could make videos that could maybe help people in their high school and college educations and then give them away for free, no one was there to tell us we were crazy, and I am very glad for that...🧵

Excellent book by @maklelan.bsky.social Great overview of critical points where the dogma of Christianity often reigns victorious over the data that is actually in the Bible. A very approachable text that can serve as an amazing starting point to go deeper into the cultural context of the Bible.

Earlier this year, ProPublica found that the sepsis rate in second-trimester pregnancy loss hospitalizations increased by more than 50% under Texas’ abortion ban. Here’s how we did our analysis. (Published Feb.)

It’s unclear exactly how many citizens have faced the Trump administration’s dragnet so far. The government does not release such figures. Neither Border Patrol nor ICE would tell ProPublica how many Americans have been mistakenly detained.

Put aside the lies and the open defiance of the Supreme Court, as well as the cruelty, and ask yourself: who talks like this? This is the *official* account of the *White House* - is it being run by a six year old?

I’m going to pull my teeth out if the left tears itself apart over whether Pete or AOC would be a better candidate while Trump dismantles every single check on his power. Let’s have the debate while deep down adoring both of them as insanely smart, principled politicians that we are lucky to have.

AOC: We saw Majorie Taylor Greene buy that dip. How much did you make? How much did you make off of people’s despair? How much did you make off of that panic? How much did you make off of that suffering? No more. We can’t accept it

When I say you don’t have to worry about microplastics in your brain I mean that there is much stronger evidence that you should be worrying about other things that you don’t ever think about, like the draining of peatlands for agriculture, and things that you think about all the time, like fascism.

Bombshell in North Carolina: the state's GOP-dominated Court of Appeals just sided with the GOP candidate in last year's supreme court race. Their decision would toss roughly 60,000 ballots (!) that have been counted, & likely hand the election to GOP instead of incumbent Dem Justice who won it.

An important point getting overlooked: When NIH cancels "diversity" grants (e.g., diversity supplements, Fs, Ks, etc), they aren't canceling the grants based on *what* the grant studies. They're cancelling them based on *who* is doing the research. And that disallowed "who" is anyone not white.

Cuneiform was a writing system used from ~3000 BCE to ~100 CE in ancient Mesopotamia. Like the characters in this post can be used to write other languages (e.g., French), cuneiform was also used to write many languages. Here are some open access resources for learning cuneiform and its languages.

Climate change is turbocharging dengue fever—and the U.S. is cutting the tools to fight it. Dengue cases are surging globally, with climate change expanding mosquitoes' reach into new regions. Meanwhile, NIH just axed climate-health research funding, and CDC faces cuts. A thread 🧵; #CDC #NIH

CNBC's Steve Liesman doesn't mince words about the way the White House calculated its tariff rates: "Nobody ever heard of this formula. Nobody has ever used this formula. So I’m sorry, but the conclusion seems to be the president kind of made this up as he went along... these are off the charts."

“To capriciously eject people from the country without warning merely for publishing an unpopular political opinion in a student newspaper is, no matter what Trump’s defenders or special pleaders may beg, utterly abhorrent.” www.nationalreview.com/2025/03/wher...

On so many fronts, the US is getting completely destroyed from the inside out. If only they had some kind of amendement to depose a fascist goverment who is destroying the country.

This week, as the number of confirmed measles cases rose to 483, the CDC buried a report that would’ve stressed the importance of getting vaccinated. The move was “not normal at all,” one agency staff member said.
