Me trying to focus my eyes on Monday morning. I built a little Seed of Life animation and the ripple + breathe settings are basically me as I get into the groove of the week. It all comes into focus eventually. #MondayMood #SacredGeometry #GenerativeArt #CreativeCoding

Nice! The trouble with choosing tile colours by averaging pixels is that the result can be somewhat blurry. Or, if you sample to get tile colours, noisy. A recent Master's student of mine wrote a nice thesis on "pixel art with non-square pixels". dl.acm.org/doi/pdf/10.1...

Next time you see a bright curve of light inside your coffee mug, look closer. It's often a cardioid, the same heart-shaped curve you get by joining dot k to dot 2k around a circle. Here it is, spinning. #mathart

Slow motion shows what a ball hit really does to your face: cheeks and lips ripple like firm jelly while the bone barely moves, all in a few thousandths of a second.

Each line goes from a point on the outer circle to a point on the inner one. No line bends. Yet the pattern they make has curves, cusps and loops. Linear steps, non-linear result. #mathart #generativeart

Decided to try this illusion with the Mona Lisa hiding inside it. My mind keeps switching between seeing her face and seeing the illusion. Trippy!

Every line in this video is perfectly straight. Your visual cortex disagrees.

Keep watching the center. It's one line the whole time. No shading, no second stroke. Just a spiral getting thicker and thinner. #creativecoding #MathArt

Leonardo spent years on the Mona Lisa. I gave her 5,568 candies and 6 colors. 🍬 Rule: gray the image, tile it, rank tiles light to dark, split into six equal piles, one candy color each. No colors match the painting, but the light and dark do, so your eye still finds her. #CreativeCoding #MathArt

Asked Claude for a catchy social video about the hat tile, the one shape that tiles forever without ever repeating. Well... is it catchy? 😀 #MathSky

Yesterday I showed you the spirals hiding inside the letter A. Today you can make your own. Type any word, then play with the triangles, the curve of pursuit, the colors and the glow. 📐 What to do? It's up to U! lifeislinear.davidson.edu/pursuitLette...

Fell into the letter A and found spirals all the way down. Made with right triangles, one simple rule (move toward the next corner, repeat), and a little Python. #mathart #creativecoding

Stunning compilation of the lightning display over the Volcán de Agua, Guatemala. The show lasted for approximately 45 minutes over impressive lenticular clouds, allowing photographers to capture the phenomenon. [📹 Jonathan Castillo] Original post

Plato associated the tetrahedron with fire. I made it ice. 🧊🔥 The simplest Platonic solid: just 4 triangles, each one's corners chasing each other inward, then letting go. A quiet one for Sunday. #generativeart #mathart #creativecoding

Trying a different color palette (palette 76 from the book “A Dictionary of Color Combinations Vol 2”) on my favorite decomposition of the infinite knight’s graph into four 2-factors.

For your Saturday game night, a d20 where every face rolls a spiral: 20 triangles, each one's corners chasing each other inward, then letting go. #generativeart #mathart #creativecoding #dnd

Update: still no idea what the Romans used them for. But I did get one to breathe. It starts as a bare dodecahedron, winds a galaxy into every face, then lets them go again. #generativeart #mathart #creativecoding

The Romans left behind over a hundred mysterious bronze dodecahedra, and nobody knows what they were for. I can't solve that, but I can fill one with spirals: 12 pentagons, five corners each, chasing inward. A tiny galaxy on every face. ✨ #generativeart #mathart #creativecoding

If a disco ball studied geometry. 🪩 A sphere cut into 320 triangles, each one filled with a curve of pursuit: corners chasing corners, all the way in. #generativeart #mathart #creativecoding

A Monday pause before the week takes over. Watch one ring turn. Breathe in, breathe out. Then another. A small, endlessly spinning start to your day. #CreativeCoding #MathArt #GenerativeArt #MondayMood

This starts closer than the Louvre will ever let you get. How fast do you recognize her as it zooms out? (Or did "Louvre" already give it away?) 🌻 #CreativeCoding #MathArt #GenerativeArt

Taught the flower to bloom. 🌸 Think of it as a time-lapse: half the day it spins left, half the day it spins right, and in between it rests. Tomorrow it starts all over again. #generativeart #mathart #creativecoding

Grew a flower with zero water and about 600 triangles. 🌸 A pentagon cut into 10 slices, each slice's corners chasing each other inward. Neighbors spin opposite ways, and petals appear on their own. #generativeart #mathart #creativecoding

Update: they're still chasing. 🔥 Same rosette, now animated: 60 pursuit curves winding up from bare outlines and back again, on loop forever. #generativeart #mathart #creativecoding

Everyone here is chasing someone. Nobody ever catches up. A curve of pursuit: each corner of a shape steps toward its neighbor. 60 little chases in 12 petals, and the glow is just where the lines pile up. inspired by @helsig.bsky.social's posts #generativeart #mathart #creativecoding
