World Humanitarian Day falls this week, so hats off to aid workers struggling to help others even when they are defunded and targeted. Last year 350 aid workers were killed, mostly in Gaza and Sudan, and 235 were kidnapped. So thank you for your courage and dedication.

Hospital admissions for severe malnutrition in Somalian displacement camps have surged 83 percent compared with last year, Doctors Without Borders reported, as the African country weathers drought and aid cuts from the U.S. and other donors.

Thousands of women and girls in Sudan have sought treatment after surviving sexual violence in the country’s civil war, Doctors Without Borders has found, in what it called “a pattern of deliberate tactics designed to humiliate and terrorize.”

We strongly condemn airstrikes allegedly carried out by the Sudanese Armed Forces on March 31 in South Darfur, near the Teaching Hospital and within a densely populated civilian area. Following at least two strikes, the MSF-supported hospital received 5 wounded patients and the body of one person.

Worth reading in its entirety, including "What survivors demand." Sexual violence must not be ignored.

A searing report on the "epidemic" of sexual violence in Haiti's capital. Survivors are speaking and the world should listen. @doctorswithoutborders.org

Miami Herald@miamiherald.com

A year-long Miami Herald investigation into the gang-related sexual violence of young women and girls in Haiti paints a disturbing portrait of an epidemic that everyone agrees merits more attention, resources and action.🧵

Bearing witness to rising sexual violence in Haiti: "Many of our patients talk about how they were aggressed in their own homes, because when armed groups come to new areas they want to control, they break into people's houses and they rape women"- Diana Manilla Arroyo @doctorswithoutborders.org

"They are describing a real massacre." All the children are malnourished. We are seeing people that have been tortured, arriving to the hospital, people with fresh gunshots, cases of sexual violence
