I voted today (got my mail-in ballot yesterday). Please make sure you vote in the mid-term elections, too. It’s probably the most important election of our lifetimes.

I wonder how long it’s going to be before the Republican Party re-brands itself because the word Republican is so toxic that they can’t get anyone to vote for them.

Someone’s welcome to fact check me on this but the Trump Iran War either just exceeded (or is about to) the number of US troops killed in Biden’s ‘disastrous’ withdrawal from Afghanistan. Remember how much outrage was directed at him for the cost of getting out of that war?

I keep getting e-mails, texts and web ads from Dem senate candidates from outside my state asking me to pitch in to help them win and flip the Senate. While I’m sympathetic to their cause, I’m not going to donate until they promise to leave me alone (forever) after I donate.

I understand that interviewing a sitting US President is on the bucket list for most journalists, but we need a different set of criteria for deciding whether it’s worth the cost to interview Trump. The answer is a just a hard NO. No complicated math or pros/cons analyses needed. Just NO.

So, now that the IRS has closed all of its Trump audits, I guess it’s time for him to release his tax returns, as he said he would.

We’ve reached the point where we need to have ‘the talk’ with our MAGA relatives. Be gentle with them, because they have been misled, but also be firm, because they can no longer assert that Trump is leading us in the right direction.

If you’re wondering what Trump’s going to do next, just ask yourself: what would Putin want him to do? More often than not, that’s exactly what he’ll do.

In addition to going to ‘No Kings’ rallies (that Republicans can studiously avoid), we should also be planning ’No Kings’ flash mobs wherever Republican congressional representatives and Senators turn up in public, to ensure that they have no safe space where they can pretend everything’s fine.

I look forward to seeing how long it takes Big Oil to spike gas prices at the pump, now that the President had unleashed a new wave of war in the Middle East. Big Oil always raises prices immediately when something bad happens, not to reflect their coming higher costs, but to cash in while they can.

This is what I’ve been saying for years, but better articulated and supported. Does note bode well for the future of our country.

Elon stands to earn more than all US elementary school teachers added together? Let that sit with you for a while.

Tesla reported paying ZERO federal income tax on $5.7 billion of U.S. income in 2025. Meanwhile, thanks to his new Tesla pay package, Elon Musk could stand to make $3 billion more per year than all 1.4 million elementary school teachers in the U.S. combined. See the problem here?

1/2 Growing up in Minnesota, every kid learns skills for surviving blizzards and severe cold, including: when your neighbor is snowed in, you help shovel them out, and when a car is stuck in deep snow, you help push it free - regardless whether you know the driver. In a storm, strangers become…

neighbors. So when ICE came to town, people didn’t necessarily have the skills for effective resistance. But they had the values. And now they have mobilized and learned the skills. I no longer live in Minnesota, but I’m still a Minnesotan at heart. May God bless and protect the protectors.

Another friend put it to me like this: "ICE has made the classic Nazi mistake. They've invaded a winter people in the winter."

A good frame-by-frame analysis of video from the confrontation that led to the killing of Renee Good in Minneapolis by the New York Times shows pretty clearly that the shooter was not only not 'run over', he stayed on his feet throughout the episode.

nytimes.comVideo: Video Analysis of ICE Shooting Sheds Light on Contested MomentsNewly available videos and existing footage synchronized and assessed by The Times provides a frame-by-frame look at how an ICE officer ended up shooting and killing a motorist in Minneapolis.

Trump is obviously not the brightest bulb on the tree, and clearly he prioritized loyalty over competence in his cabinet picks, but surely someone in the Administration must see that virtually everything they’re doing is straight out of Putin’s plan to destroy NATO and democracy.

I don’t understand why more people aren’t focusing on the role this ICE agent played in Ms. Good’s killing. It appears that his aggressive attempt to open her car door scared her into trying to drive away. If he hadn’t acted so aggressively, perhaps she’d still be alive.

Since Elon is all of a sudden concerned about political violence, maybe he’d like to see this?

I guess it’s a good thing we were so concerned about the right to speak our opinions being outlawed by a ruling class that we guaranteed it by making it the very first amendment in our Bill of Rights when we formed the country.

On the eve of his second election — on October 31, 1936 — FDR delivered his coup de grace, explaining the stakes in his fight with the moneyed interests. Today’s economic royalists are backing Trump, and the fight is much the same.
