if voting didn't matter they wouldn't be working so hard to stop you

The long-serving strongman leader of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, has conceded defeat in an election that pitted him and his right-wing party against a diverse student-led opposition movement that spent two years protesting his government.

A pre-election reminder that the governing coalition decided that pay equity for women was not important 18 months ago. The silence around this right now is little short of staggering as the Nats and their buddies in the media make this election a single issue about law and order. #nzpol

And if National wanted to do anything about our supermarkets and the cost of living they would have already, under urgency and with no consultation. So don’t believe their promises.

I urge overseas voters to vote in the early part of the voting period, to allow for complications delaying things

When political scientists first raised concerns about this new restriction last year we were told we were being ‘alarmist’ to suggest tilting the playing field unfairly like this by one party can undermine the legitimacy of the election out come for all Kiwis in a tight race I’m still ‘alarmed’…

Last day! NZ National restricted general roll voting regulations for the first time in 40 yrs To reporters please don’t repeat spin- the change won’t speed up counting - And let’s not shrug & say just 2% fewer voters enrolled It’s 300,000 NZers prevented from voting That’s an entire NZ town

The right's line this election is "why should you get to vote if you aren't organised enough to enrol". Next term, if Paul Goldsmith has any say, it'll be, why should you get to vote if you have a conviction. Or aren't a citizen. Or receive a benefit. Or don't own property. Or don't have a job.

Three years ago, my dad said that all fish are the same shape. Out of spite, I decided to draw all 478 families of bony fish listed in Nelson 2016. There's still some stuff I need to edit and some fish I want to redraw but, after 985 days, I finished my big dumb fish project last night.

A real video on Family First NZ's FB page. Oh, they also laugh about how they're not all in agreement that women's suffrage was a good thing. This is the anti-choice movement in New Zealand. This is what NZ First aligns with, as Winston Peters gave an exclusive interview to Family First NZ. #nzpol

What game do you play with a wombat?

Jack Ashby@jackdashby.bsky.social

If there were any justice in the world, every day would be #WorldWombatDay, but today is the official day to celebrate these glorious creatures that crush their enemies with their buttocks, dig burrows tens of metres long, constantly regrow their teeth, have babies called wombatlets, and poop cubes.

#nzpol remind everyone you meet to register (why didn’ this get more air time earlier?- if you recall the govt’s chaos strategy was to flood the zone with changes so while everyone was focused on the Fast Track legislation & Regulatory Stds this voter suppression act passed at Xmas 19 Dec 2025 😔)

An extremely powerful and fair call from @rnzrss.bsky.social Craig McCulloch The Government is quite willing to put new limits on NZ voters rights to vote but not on the time it takes them to form a government Check with friends and family and workmates - are they enrolled? #nzpol

Exciting development on Wikipedia today: for the first time in *fifteen years* there has been a substantial change to the main page, with an article selected for improvement appearing on the top right above the in-the-news section. (Mobile users: third section down)
