Seconded and posted. Everyone else get aboard and let it fly.

The major platforms—Facebook, YouTube, and X—are all refusing to show the trailer for the upcoming documentary that eviscerates the ridiculous pest Elon Musk. So I guess we have to do our part to make sure it is seen. www.youtube.com/watch?v=eY_8...

At what point does a British by-election get awarded to the silver medalist, à la Ben Johnson and Carl Lewis? Asking for a friend of a friend, i.e. me. #Clacton

I know you're not allowed to say this during the current debate, but the reason the left dominates academics, art, comedy, and music is that the right has stupid, discredited ideas, they're not funny, and dull resentment does not make for good art. No grand conspiracy required.

July 27, 1926: The Charleston is banned as a public hazard and "indecency" in Gettysburg, Pa. The small town's burgess, or mayor, says he acted by executive authority in forbidding the dance.

Why yes, I -- a reasonably intelligent and very literate human being -- just came *this close* to asking my husband to order more cellulite for me. (Collagen. I meant collagen. My own natural cellulite is doing the job, thanks.)

Oh no. Anyway....

BREAKING: Donald Trump is reportedly furious that FIFA, Spain, and every sports news network have edited him out of the photos of the World Cup trophy celebration before posting them online.

We have been watching the World Cup on Telemundo, which has been an absolute joy. Yesterday we went out for the final and thus watched on Fox. I learned SO MUCH about the game! Please appreciate this brief thread of Fox wisdom: 1) The teams needed players who can execute. 2) Later in the game...

...players get both tired and fatigued. 3) Spain wanted to score. 4) Spain wanted to prevent Argentina from scoring. 5) In general, players would like to score. 6) At 63 minutes the game has gone on for more than an hour. 7) Argentina needed to get Messi the ball for him to do anything with it.

We went to see The Odyssey yesterday (loved it) and I knew but had forgotten that Benny Sadie played Agamemnon. Was walking my husband through what else we'd seen him in and he waxed lyrical about how charming Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret was. I'm GenX and the same age as the book...

And really loved the movie. My husband did not in any sense grow up with the book (different age, different country) and I absolutely cannot express how much it touched me that he appreciated it.

Also distressed by the back-page coverage of ICE's latest murder, which was unfortunately inevitable News definitionally reports on things that are new or surprising. ICE killings are no longer either thing. It's the first step on the road to normalcy (See also: police brutality)

Between this and the national guard in Memphis it’s kind of disturbing me (yes I know I’m a member of the media) the degree to which these killings aren’t really breaking thru rn

I'm working at home wearing my USMNT kit. Just let my contractors in to do some stuff and the *immediate* conversation with one of them was around how we look like even worse assholes on the world stage, and how the suspension should just have played out without interference. So yeah.

"In every stage of these Oppressions We have Petitioned for Redress in the most humble terms: Our repeated Petitions have been answered only by repeated injury. A Prince, whose character is thus marked by every act which may define a Tyrant, is unfit to be the ruler of a free people."

The mansplaining is dripping off the page here. Thank God he helped her with her little lady brain.

JD VANCE: Jessica, I think you're making the same mistake unfortunately a lot of the Iranian propagandists make when they talk about this TARLOV: Like the Wall Street Journal?

I mean, the good Lord could manage it sooooo.

He's been saying this thing about how easy it is to walk over the Qatar-Iran border for many months now. Clearly no one around him is brave enough to correct him. That's pretty terrifying.

Sitting in my local dive bar when I hear a conversation about the World Cup and Scotland and some accents. Indeed, a couple Scots World Cup supporters were passing through Albany between games. Had a lovely chat, walked them to the Plaza, and pointed them to the best ramen.

Just this second read about the welcome the Algerian team has received in Kansas and I'm crying. I really needed the reminder that Americans can still-- if we choose -- be who we say we aspire to be. (Also as a Notre Dame band alum I am a sucker for any news featuring a university marching band.)

A FIFA referee has spent more time in federal custody for being Somali than anybody on epstein's list for raping kids.

My husband has already suggested their spies belong in Slough House.

Southampton have admitted to spying on these three teams. They didn't win any of those games. Oxford United 2-1 Southampton Southampton 2-2 Ipswich town Middlesbrough 0-0 Southampton

Good news: campus access to Canvas has been restored. I immediately downloaded my grades to an Excel spreadsheet. Bad news: in the process of updating the totals on those sheets/adding in the AutoSum formula, Excel has crashed an absolute minimum of six times.

Trump: "No president has ever taken a cognitive test except me. I've taken three of them. One in the first administration. They're hard. The first question is easy. You have a lion, a bear, an alligator, and a squirrel. 'Which is the squirrel?'"

The Coachella music festival is in the news with the minimum price of sold out 3-day ticket costing $549. Contrast that with "Nicolas" who is currently harvesting onions in the Coachella area and getting paid $22 for a $900lb crate. #WeFeedYou #coachella2026

You have more in common with the people of Iran than you do with anyone in this administration, any member of the technocracy, anyone who is profiting from this war, or any billionaire. When you see Iranians forming human chains outside key infrastructure sites, you should feel a sense of kinship.
