Canadians want to prioritize clean energy over fossil fuels, Carney government told in internal report New public opinion research commissioned by federal government shows a majority of Canadians want to see Canada become a clean energy superpower

New reporting from (the also new) @thewatchdog.ca. Research keeps showing that Canadians want to reduce emissions and take climate action—even if many *think* others don’t, and even if our leaders continually forgo climate action for short-term economic and political gain.

Documents like these are insightful because they suggest the government is knowingly acting out of step with public opinion (and many of their own voters):

We have a winner: Overall, 60% of Canadians indicated they want to prioritize clean energy compared to 18% who said the same of fossil fuels. Broken down further, 1/4 (26%) said Canada should focus mainly on clean energy, while 1/3 (34%) said "both, but lean more toward clean energy.”
