Brazil going the way of South Korea. Basically around the world women are desperately trying to keep power out of the hands of incredibly stupid fascistic grifters while men keep trying to hand it over. Men are an embarrassing cringe gender.

Incredible gender difference in voting intention in Brazil.

The @fusewashington.org guide redirection must cease. Last year they dual endorsed Wilson & Harrell - led to a lot of confusion - what does “progressive” mean? Does it mean incumbent centrist Dem, someone who wants progress? The website redirection by Eileen Pollett, Pedersen consultant, must cease.

CM Lin is too collegial to say it so the rest of us have to. There are six people brazenly and cynically lying about the budget for political gain. They have names. Bob Kettle Rob Saka Maritza Rivera Joy Hollingsworth Debora Juarez Dan Strauss Kettle, Saka, and Rivera are especially dishonest.

Councilmember Eddie Lin@cmeddielin.seattle.gov

Finally, I think it’s incredibly important that we provide accurate information to the public about the budget. And the fact is that the proposed budget (which again is just a proposal) does not defund SPD.

Hey, @kcprosecutor.bsky.social, Seattle City Attorney Erika Evans, and WA State AG Nick Brown: right-wing hate-monger Nick Shirley attempted felony EBT fraud and has the video to prove it. Are you going to let him get away with this without even investigating?

Goldy@goldy.horsesass.org

Shirley & Kruze and other professional righty liars don't care how many lives they destroy—unless they are non-white lives, in which case it's as many as possible. The only SNAP fraud attempted here was by Shirley. And it failed. Can't wait for my local Lam's to open in Rainier Valley.

Why does the city need to "cut a deal" with the cops to get back money that the cops have in contravention of law and contract? Why do we as a community have to "cut a deal" with the people who ostensibly serve us? Are we a self-governing polity or are we under occupation?

Erica C. Barnett@ericacbarnett.bsky.social

SPD Overpaid Officers By $13 Million. Now the City Wants It Back. Officers got retroactive paychecks that were as much as $32,000 too high. If the city wants to recover the money, they have to cut a deal with the police union. publicola.com/2026/10/01/s...

BREAKING: SCOTUS allows the Trump admin to restart third-country removals under a policy found by lower courts to violate federal law. The Democratic appointees dissent. The deportations will be OK'ed at least through the next several months, with SCOTUS agreeing to hear the case in December.

This is very cool. NYC chose this company to put curbside chargers in. They use power from the buildings they are adjacent to, run beneath the sidewalk, which avoids the need to dig up the street & connect to the main power line. They are also BYOC -- bring your own cable. Light, fast, unobtrusive.

It's really frustrating to see such an important committee chaired this way. Rob Saka's focus on style over substance costs all of us in the city.

Ryan Packer@typewriteralley.bsky.social

Transportation committee chair Rob Saka is in a mad dash to get his "SAFER Streets Act" (actually three bills) across the finish line before fall budget season. That's leading to a lot of cut corners, including entire city departments being kept out of the loop. www.theurbanist.org/rob-saka-thr...

It's hard to assess the exact number, because it would have varied with use of the density bonus, but the drop in base zoning height from 12 to 7 stories appears to have resulted in the loss of about 600 transit-oriented homes. That is major loss for the climate and affordability.

Peter, a neighborhood that directly benefits from direct adjacency a massive region-wide transit system has no right to dictate density on a level as granular as this. If you want to exert this level of control over "neighborhood character" move at least a mile away from any place this urbanized.

Whether we want to admit it or not, every NFL game is a snuff film. It's long past time fans of the sport faced up to a reality that becomes clearer every day: American football is simply too dangerous. This year, turn off the NFL. Our latest in @theguardian.com @us.theguardian.com.

Pike Place should put people first year-round. In SDOT’s June survey, 98% of 5,403 respondents supported vehicle barriers. And among 224 Market businesses & staff who responded, 96% agreed. Yet the proposal for this winter would allow more general car traffic into the Market.

The Recurring Speed Camera Discourse is a bit exasperating really because, look, we all know what's actually happening is people just want to be able to commit the pertinent crimes and don't like being punished for it, but people come up with obvious post-hoc pseudo-woke rationalisations for this.

It's an odd thing to say of a politician, but Jeffries has no ambition. He's an NYC machine flunky who got tapped by Pelosi to lead the Dems because her no. 1 choice lost a primary. This is as good as it's gonna get for him. He has no vision for the party or America. He's just defending his turf.

Jonathan Cohn @jonathancohn.bsky.social

The problem with Jeffries is that he has a combativeness toward DSA that stems from NYC political fights. He views them as a threat rather than as one pole in a big tent because he is constantly backing opposing candidates locally.

There is an unused east-bound lane on Denny Way over I-5 🤔. What if we used that space to make walking and biking over I-5 a little less sketchy (there is no sidewalk on the north side!)

Seattle Bike Blog@seattlebikeblog.com

Very curious to see if this leads to more biking on Denny, too. Right now biking is truly awful there. But with a bus lane? Hmm. Might not be comfortable, but it might be doable.
