Just re-read Ubik by PKD and now my day feels like a sci-fi hallucination. Black box in my pocket that connects to people across the world? Right. Baby monitor named InfantOptics? That’s a little too on the nose. Have to watch an ad to pump gasoline in my car? Obviously none of this is real.

Something I think about a lot with neurodivergence is how often the “norm” our brains are “diverging” from is not any sort of human norm, but just a modern norm invented by capitalists. Maybe demanding we all sleep on Henry Ford’s schedule and do endless paperwork to live is the divergent path here.
