does anyone in the hivemind have an explanation for why my @iambic.bot keeps being invalid-handled?

Realworld.events is now expanded to the the whole UK! >140,000 talks, exhibitions, gigs & plays out in the world, sifted to find the ones you are interested in. ~100 swipes give good recommendations!

Londoners! I've made a website that discovers everything going on in the physical world of London (talks, exhibitions, gigs, plays, etc.) and finds stuff it thinks you'll like. You teach it your interests by swiping events left or right. Decent recs after ~100 swipes. Check out realworld.events!

Got claude to design a PCB with hundreds of components, including a STM32 for which it wrote code. Today it arrived fully assembled from JLCPCB, I flashed the STM32 and it all just worked..

also took a video looking around my workspace and gave it to gemini to make a tool for finding stuff

Not a great sign, but a lot will depend on the details here. For instance, if the patient really came from Uganda and not DRC via Uganda that suggests there is spread in the country that is being missed. www.reuters.com/business/hea...

I love living in Zone 1, but I don’t think this is true. There’s a huge amount going on in the outer zones - part of what is great about living in zone one is easy access to everything in London, outer and inner.

Pretty excited to see what new costly signals emerge when writing becomes cheap. Perhaps a certificate of you staring at the screen, stressed out, for 24 hours while writing it? A receipt of all the cafes you worked on it in?

💯. I think too many people treat AI containment and alignment as an engineering challenge to be solved. As I see it, the problem is far more fundamental, and harder to solve (arguably unsolvable). Understanding why requires understanding evolution. Short thread 🧵

A dangerous myth has gained traction after the recent hacks perpetrated by the AI agents developed by leading companies: That these incidents are just cyber security problems, that it's only a matter of fixing the sandboxes in which they’re trained.

Some of my thoughts about the surge in AI-generated papers, why this feels like a completely new kind of problem, and what this means for how we evaluate science in biology. Out now in PLOS Biology: journals.plos.org/plosbiology/...

This is a great idea. If you live in London, once you've swiped through a hundred or so propositions of outings, the recommendations seem to be spot on for me. Most Excellent!

A recommendation engine for the physical world would be quite nice – exhibitions, talks, etc.

Just found out that a lot of people don‘t know that you can use a ”C7 figure‑8 power cord“ with any Apple power adapter in case you forgot your travel adapter. Way cheaper to get one of those usually than a full travel adapter. #travelhacks

The math of MSCA applications: - Suppose writing an application takes 2 months. - Total cost of hiring a PhD is maybe €5k/month (??) - Applying costs €10k. - Total cost for 21k proposals: €210M - Total funding: €400M So half the budget is wasted on just applications.
