It's officially #MaintainerMonth! To celebrate, I just published psas.dev which has README badges maintainers can use to communicate boundaries for their #opensource projects.

I have been writing this post about the economics of open source, on and off, for 13 years. I wasn't expecting to end up at "Microsoft should send corporations a huge bill" but nothing else we've tried has worked. https://seldo.com/posts/nobody-pays-for-open-source-we-can-force-them-to/
Over the weekend, I found a brain tickling video about nets that can fold up into multiple different boxes. So... I made printable versions of 2,263 of them to play with. Enjoy! :D Video: www.youtube.com/watch?v=RAex...

Do not use pull_request_target. Do not use caches in publish workflows. Use dependency cooldowns. Use Zizmor. Tell GitHub to make Actions secure by default. #GitHub #GitHubActions
We at TanStack just had a major attack against our Router packages. We have a postmortem out now explaining what happened and how we mitigated the response: tanstack.com/blog/npm-sup... No other TanStack packages outside of the Router monorepo were impacted

`frozendict` has officially been accepted as part of #Python 3.15! discuss.python.org/t/pep-814-ad...
Looks like #Python 3.15 will include a built-in, immutable `frozendict` type. "Using an immutable mapping as a function parameter’s default value avoids the problem of mutable default values." There are other benefits too (e.g. `frozendict`s are hashable).

I just watched @daniel.haxx.se's keynote featuring stories from 30 years of libcurl development. Even though most of the presentation was examples of frustrating messages/demands, I admired how the few, kind gestures he's received are big parts of his motivation to keep going.
Find and thank an open-source maintainer today! youtu.be/YEBBPj7pIKo?...
This thread reminds me of Excel's formula evaluator, which lifts the values of each expression into the current context. It's so helpful for the debugging to come to me, where I retain full context. Picture Source: stackoverflow.com/q/6470263/14...
one thing that blew my mind about working in Lean (and is still blowing my mind) is that “variables” (really, let bindings) and “function calls” are all infinitely unfoldable. i can just replace each variable with its definition, each function with its body, any no of levels deep, during a proof.
"Error: Invalid file name. Only characters on the basic multilingual plane are supported." What do you think this error message means? I ran into it recently while #debugging a migration of several hundred thousand documents. Here's what I learned: (1/4)
Once I had figured that out, it wasn't too hard to write a script to replace/remove emojis from the migrated document names. To see the code and even more details, check out my full blog post: jhale.dev/posts/detect... (4/4)

Forgetting the --𝚛𝚖 option when running throwaway #docker containers can clutter your computer. But there is a short #bash command to remove all those stopped containers docker rm $(docker ps -a | grep Exited | cut -d " " -f 1) How it works:
Have you heard of the 𝚐𝚒𝚝 𝚒𝚗𝚜𝚝𝚊𝚠𝚎𝚋 command? It creates a live website to explore any #git repository on your computer. It's #GitHub from before there was GitHub. Here's how to set it up:
