On Oct 14th 1996, Matthias Ettrich, a student in Germany, posted to Usenet asking for help build a real desktop for Linux. That post led to the creation of KDE, one of the most impactful free software communities in the world. Catch the trailer for our documentary about KDE on Saturday 19th.

I’m once again asking, you could at least use my computer to mine bitcoin rather than using it to make the web a shitter place forever for anyone forced to interact with websites hosted by 25th percentile sysadmins. this would be way better than burning compute and *doxing* me.

I taught myself programming as a 13-year-old to make Minecraft mods. My dad works in construction, my mother in childcare. "Computer class" at school included "how to use Word 2008" I did this myself. I can't help but wonder if a more restricted internet would ever allow for such self-development.

Testing out multi-pane features for my LLM chat client. Seems fun so far, but we'll see if I stick with it.

I have to say that Codex's UX is much better than Claude Code's. At least that's the case in the VS Code extension.
