Spent the last two days playing with #linux toys. I upgraded to Pop!_OS 24.02 and adopted the Cosmic Desktop as my daily driver. I was nervous it wouldn't be ready for prime-time, but it's generally been a smooth update. I'll share some thoughts in the thread. Thank you @system76.bsky.social !

I love this laptop. Had the opportunity to work on it for a few weeks and it's a pleasure to use. Wonderful screen. Wonderful keyboard. AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 & NVIDIA RTX 5070 make a perfect combination. I like my 14" Darter but I can feel the tug from this one.

Theming integrates with any app that follows the COSMIC App Template. Choose whatever colors you like, and the palette automatically adjusts for text contrast. Make corners square, rounded square, or round. Make spacing more condensed or more comfortable. Save your theme and share with your friends.

Windows can snap to corners, gravitate to screen edges, and be dragged from any area using Super+Left Click. Stack any window (floating or tiled) to combine apps together like tabs in a web browser. COSMIC includes an integrated tiling windows manager. When mastered, tiling feels incredibly fast.

Panels (Dock, Taskbar, minimalist) allow you to use the UI you’re most comfortable with. Add or remove apps or applets, change where they’re placed, and orient your panels on any screen edge.

COSMIC applets are powerful, versatile tools. For example, the Logo Menu applet in COSMIC Store adds a logo to the panel where, akin to the Windows Start menu, you can select from a variety of actions from the same applet. These actions are customizable, as is the logo itself!
