My wife's new ink! The Question (aka Renée Montoya) done during a marathon seven-hour sit at the Richmond Tattoo Convention, done by the inestimable Seth Holmes of Sleep Walker Tattoo in Pittsburgh.

The best use of free will and spite I've seen all year!

Three years ago, my dad said that all fish are the same shape. Out of spite, I decided to draw all 478 families of bony fish listed in Nelson 2016. There's still some stuff I need to edit and some fish I want to redraw but, after 985 days, I finished my big dumb fish project last night.

Ten years too young and 2500 miles too far east for this to have been a reality (and I am jealous as hell). But my three would be the L7 show, Offspring and Rancid, and probably Jesus and Mary Chain / Mazzy Star, although Dino Jr is tempting.

This is the result of 7+ years of Trump's attacks on @repilhan.bsky.social, Somali-Americans, & the Muslim community. Everyone, regardless of party, must speak out against this fascistic abuse of power. If they can do this to a sitting Congresswoman, they can & will do it to anyone.

The Trump administration’s investigation into Rep. Ilhan Omar is aimed at building a case to strip her of her U.S. citizenship and ultimately deport her, according to U.S. officials and other people familiar with the probe.

P.S. If you’re a Virginia voter, I encourage you to vote yes on all three amendments. 1 protects reproductive freedom 2 protects marriage equality 3 makes it easier to released felons to regain their voting rights

Does anyone have a digital copy of the original Doyle and Doyle CTAB extraction protocol? "A rapid DNA isolation procedure for small quantities of fresh leaf tissue" in Phytochemical Bulletin. Also wondering if any paper beats it in terms of number of citations without having been read. 😀

Our girl cat, Opal, seen here having colonized my new dice tray, has uses for her mothers (Molly is brush mother, I am nighttime heat source mother), and generally likes or tolerates most men. As a lesbian household, we don’t *understand* our straight daughter, but we support her.

“girl cats are mean” “girl cats are standoffish” “girl cats are —“ my girl cat is constantly trying to put her nose inside my nose so have you considered that it’s a you problem

I’m having this right now not with a book but with the portrayal of a D&D race in Critical Role art. Orcs have tusks. Those tusks take up space. Lower lips should curve *around* them, not be straight. So the hill I’m currently on is not the Existence of Orcs, but the accuracy of Orc Dentition.

You ever have that thing where you're reading a book and you can do the lift for suspension of disbelief for the entire fantastical premise of the thing but then you hit one detail and your brain is like "absolutely not"?

In class: Me: We’re going to talk about Hi-C, and I mean the sequencing approach, not the drink. Student: Oh, I remember that stuff! Tasted kind of like chocolate mixed with sadness. Me: Actually that’s Yoo-hoo, but you’re not wrong!

I'll be honest, if there's not at least ONE furry on a team handling anything technical, I feel much less confident in their abilities. If all the furries in IT suddenly vanished, the economy would crater immediately. Let people have hobbies, y'all!

Tommy Tuberville: Many airline pilots, flight attendants, and air traffic controllers are part of the furry community. It's terrifying.

So is that 0.005 percent hit rate higher or lower than the rate of officers illegally using these systems to spy on their exes?

Every few years when there's unrest in parts of Africa or the Middle East -- Toyota PR Team in Conference Room, watching war footage: Recent college graduate: *raises hand* Older rest of team: No. RCG: But, they're so dependa- OROT: NO!

The Houthi-aligned Bani Hashish tribes are massing in preparation to “liberate” the remaining Yemeni territory outside Houthi control. It’s a sea of Toyotas with mounted machine guns. I think this is what we should mean when we say Toyotathon from now on.

Every time I drive counterclockwise on 495, I get sad and angry when I pass NSF headquarters. But I’m happy my wife was driving yesterday when I first saw this monstrosity slung across it; I would’ve crashed my car. My language was not fit for print.

Okay I’m calling it. In “things happen in threes” this is now the third stupid and/or awful chemical story this week, so we’re done. Everyone go back to following safety protocols and stop messing around with dangerous shit!

In today’s “Sounds like satire from @theonion.com , but …” 👻 Hazmat team called to handle ghost potion fall-out 👻 99.9% likelihood the “witchcraft“ book they bought off Amazon for this dangerous recipe was AI generated #WitchSky

I think this is where we find a division between the elder millennials and the younger set. Because for the '77-'83 crowd, I believe the triggers were this linoleum and this couch:

i don’t think people realize that millenial grey is a trauma response to faux tuscan, chickens, and little Italian chefs
