Thank you to everyone who made The Car-Free University Way a success! It was amazing to see families return to a space that was now welcoming for them. We are far from done. We intend to work with the UW student body, U District residents, businesses, and the entire community to make this real.

Someday, we’ll have streets like this in every neighborhood in Seattle and ask ourselves why it took so long.

We’re doing one more time on Saturday 10/17! We’d love to work with @transportation.seattle.gov to do a Pike Place-style pilot next Spring/Summer, so we need to show Seattleites want this! Whether you’re a U District resident, student, worker, or business owner, your voice matters.

A functioning city government would be out here dealing with this issue and instead it’s just nothing. I’m confused what anyone does all day.

A bus lane is only as good as the drivers who stay off of it.

Most predictable outcome ever and the city still just lets it happen.

No, they’re all trying to turn right

Hearing on good authority that Police Chief Shon Barnes has just been fired. He just left the mayor's office this evening after being inside for quite a while. Barnes is currently calling around the police department to tell his captains. Still waiting on confirmation from mayor's office and SPD.

Seattle City Light has had a power capacity problem brewing for years. Whether it's data centers or electric vehicles, they're going to have to bring a lot more generation online sooner rather than later...

The Urbanist@theurbanist.org

Driven by a groundswell of grassroots advocacy and growing skepticism about AI, Seattle is considering a data center moratorium. The Seattle City Council has big votes scheduled in early June to decide the legislation’s fate. Story: www.theurbanist.org/seattle-adva...

Malaysia and Indonesia become the first countries to block Grok, the artificial intelligence chatbot developed by Elon Musk’s xAI, after authorities said it was being misused to generate sexually explicit and non-consensual images.

I'm just going to keep posting about other folks getting off the Bad Site until the City of Seattle gets it together. Feel free to help me pile on.

Bluesky community! This is my official NYC mayor account. I’ll be posting updates on what’s happening at City Hall and how we’re delivering for New Yorkers. It’s great to be here.

You can just do things.

(1/2) The United States of America has successfully carried out a large scale strike against Venezuela and its leader, President Nicolas Maduro, who has been, along with his wife, captured and flown out of the Country. This operation was done in conjunction with U. S. Law

We'll need to get rid of these websites as part of the inevitable societal cleanup.

Quadrupling the property tax output of a single plot of land is a huge W for the city and its ability to do things, actually.

daily newspapers' letters to the editor pages exist entirely to platform uniformed opinions by low-information people. "Golly, ever notice how houses cost less and now they cost more? That's because of last year's upzoning!" Meanwhile your only two variables are housing prices and time

Also, a reminder that the antidote to hopelessness is community. Join a community action or rapid response group. If there isn't one where you live, start one. Get to know your neighbors and be there for them. Find your people and hold on tight to one another.

Listening to tonight's Federal Way city council land use committee meeting, where a councilmember was questioning the need to add a sidewalk to a street directly connecting Federal Way High School with the light rail station, "because it's a residential area" and would impact parking.

When people from Federal Way talk to strangers on the East Coast, they probably say they're from Seattle anyway.

"There's a vaccine for cervical cancer" and yet we haven't introduced it to the mandatory regiment in Washington State. Virginia, Rhode Island, Hawaii, and DC have done it. It's time.

Kelly@broadwaybabyto.bsky.social

Australia recorded ZERO cases of cervical cancer in women under 25 for the first time since they started tracking the cancer in the 80s. This is the power of vaccines. The HPV vaccine is extremely effective at preventing cancer. Viruses can be oncogenic. Get your vaccines and protect yourself!

Seattle used to fund so much transit service until covid (and jenny durkan) In 2019, almost 75% of the city lived within walking distance of a bus every 10 mins or better. Today, it's only like 50%! Time to get the buses running again!
