was looking around a book store last night for a paperback print of between two fires, lamented they didn't have it, decided to look up the release date of it narrator: they'd forgotten about printing schedules (paperback estimated june 2027)

you'd think good book design would get me to buy a book, considering who my partner is, but instead it just makes us go on long rants in book stores about trendy things to do with printed material (like color edges) also we have too many books already.

I'm reading it in epub format (I'm like a quarter of the way in) but I like the cover design a lot and want a paperback once one's available

They just re-launched the original Guild Wars today. Also a free update for anyone with the original game, and they've made the expansions just a free part of the package. Still no other game like it. Not really an MMO, but rather a linear, mission-based action-RPG deckbuilder, with optional bots.

re: lrp, I signed up for a qobuz trial and the library is very robust/easy to transfer from literally any other service a couple of downsides, though: no ability to create playlist folders, and no way to add an image as your playlist cover art (that second one might be a dealbreaker)

okay the other downside of qobuz versus apple is it doesn't cover nearly the same number of tracks in my massive anime openings/endings playlist (which is a pretty good litmus test, tbh---250+ songs)

not that I need another project but I've also considered trying to go the "buy an old ipod off ebay and learn how to refurbish it" route but we'll see. that might be a bridge too far for my little pea brain right now

I transferred to apple music a long while back but I'll be honest I haven't used it much... it's mostly my go-to for "hey I want to listen to [this specific album]"

As someone who loves finding new music, NTS has really been a godsend this year. I VASTLY prefer having that music curated by human beings with taste NTS has two "stations" on at any given time, refreshing every 1-2 hours depending on length, and their backlog is robust, tagged, and searchable

oh one more thing, you can search for an artist or a band you like and see what episodes they appear on I've found that to be a great way of finding shows that jive with the mood I'm going for! it's a great way to broaden your horizons! okay rant over thank you

And if you pay them a little bit of money every month like I do, you get live tracklists for the currently playing shows as well as tracklist timestamps on archives from 2023 onward (among other things) You can also save tracks to look into later!

Okay I made this thread on the account I'm on most often (the ffxiv one) but I'm putting it here to because I feel like being an NTS advertiser now that spotify wrapped is rearing its stupid head again These are some shows and episodes I've liked on NTS after a year listening to it:

Learned Death Grips have a new album in the works because of a Demi Adejuyigbe tweet, which is incidentally the best way to find out about anything good
