Heads up streamers! We're moving off of one of our ingest hostnames. If you see this message on your live dashboard, you'll need to change your OBS settings before 2027. Here's how:

Open OBS, click the "Settings" button, and open the "Stream" tab. For server, does it say rtmps://stream.place:1935/live Oh no! That one will stop working in 2027. Don't worry, we have a solution:

Using the fingers on your hands, update it to say rtmps://rtmp.stream.place:1935/live And away you go, into 2027 and beyond. And as always, Streamplace responsibly!

We live in times of unprecedented disinformation. Political speech has never been easier to fake or harder to trust. We're pushing back by broadcasting the stream on the open and free internet. Embedded cryptographic authenticity verifies that it came from the Commission and hasn't been altered.

After the stream, the Commission is making the VOD available and permissively licensed (CC-BY). We hope people build on it: stream reactions, debate about it, publish translations. Together, we can build a healthier information ecosystem.

And we have basic machine-vision in place to help identify harmful content. We understand discomfort with these systems, but there's great potential for harm in live video; machine-assisted moderation has long been considered a T&S best practice. Humans will always make the final rulings on bans.

We want to be transparent about what this does and doesn't mean. This S2PA metadata travels with the stream; if you syndicate a stream or turn it into a VOD, for example, the metadata is preserved. But as always, we have no control over bad actors taking screenshots or screen recordings.

Streamplace has never used your streams for GenAI training and we never will. But what kinds of automated systems do access your stream content? You deserve to know how your content gets used. We're working on automated transcription, providing closed captioning for Deaf/HoH users.

FYI: Streamplace isn't vulnerable to the PixelSmash ffmpeg vulnerability announced yesterday. (We don't use the insecure magicyuv decoder, you see.) We're pushing out an update anyway with the latest ffmpeg version as a precautionary measure, but you may continue Streamplacing without fear.

VOD Jam tip: HLS is supported by a lot of browsers natively these days but not all of them. I'd recommend including and using HLS.js to maximize compatibility (I think this is the root cause of a lot of the "doesn't work in Firefox" reports)
