I despised Bester intensely. Auch an evil, wicked man who believed he was right. A brilliant character, Koenig played his magnificently. After the initial shock, it became clear there wasn't a shred of Chekov in there.

J. Michael Straczynski@straczynski.bsky.social

Today we lost Walter Koenig. Some thoughts about a fine actor and genuinely nice guy....

Why are these fifth columnists even tolerated? If we had a decent press, people like Tugendhat would be savaged for the harms they are proposing on all of us.

Sarah Murphy@13sarahmurphy.bsky.social

Tom Tugendhat in Sunday Times insists on leaving the ECHR to tackle “soaring” immigration. What a miserable rat. Lying to us all. Betraying our country’s best interests. Threatening to flounce out of our human rights framework, trashing our treaties and torching our protection from abuses of power.

For the controlled stop, I'd like to a closeup to see where they have stopped. Lastly, the skittles could do with a clear line to see whether they have crossed the line.

I have opinions... The camera work was generally good, but they sometimes cut away from some important moments. Surely they should measure from the Mermaids elbow? The basketball seems a little too easy - and is unfair to those with shorter arms.

I wish people would pay more attention to people like this. People keep falling for the far-right's messaging, and they're getting far too much exposure without any push back.

Very nice to hear a sane voice from Piddington. Serious respect to this woman, who is apparently already being othered by more bigoted villagers.

Now James Orr has stepped down as Reform UK's Head of Policy after C4's report, questions remain for Cambridge – where he is Associate Professor. Byline Times revealed serious concerns about his activities there months ago. We all know there won't now be 200+ articles on him and his life don't we?

I agreed about the junk that is left in orbit, and I'd like more care and thought to be given to what is put into space. But the creation of a new crater on the moon is hardly a rare occurrence.

One of the first "outrageous" claims I saw as Jason Arday's media hounding unfolded was that he ran 30 marathons in 35 days! Wow! What a thing to claim! And the newspapers all suggested there was no evidence he actually did it. Well, they clearly didn't look very hard 🙄 🧵 1/26

"There will be another Jason Arday. We know this. Because the media knows this. The press isn't free if it lacks impunity to do anything it likes. It is how power protects itself. By declaring it has none. There is no check to fetter power when unfettered power resides in the check." My Editorial:

Step-by-step it's important to express the sentiment in this country or it will be overlooked.

💥 70,000 signatures! 💥 ...and the petition closes on June 8th. Imagine if we can get it over 100,000 before then - and open a Parliamentary debate in time for the 10th anniversary of the Brexit vote on June 23rd 2026. That'd be powerful. All hands to the pump! Sign and share, share, share! 👇

Someone this greedy and corrupt will never act in the best interests of the country. He showed you with Brexit. He showed you with Reform councils. He showed you with his own constituency. He’ll lie to your face and sell you out. Do not let him win because then we all lose. Do not vote Reform.

Sam Bright@writesbright.bsky.social

🔴 NEW - Nigel Farage has accepted £2 million since becoming an MP @desmog.com’s analysis, published by The Guardian, shows that the Reform leader has raked in millions on top of the £5 million handed to him by Harborne

It smells Trumpian too. Trump wants to, and tries to treat Democrats majority states in the same way. Our elected representatives represent everyone in the parish, council and ward, not just the ones who voted for them. Often they are in the minority.

Reform's latest wheeze doesn't actually seem to break criminal law. But it's almost certainly unconstitutional. I'm not an expert, but as far as I can see (short thread):

Just a reminder that kings do vary in quality. The English Henry VI wasn't great, Henry VIII famously made his own religion to divorce.

Incredible shots of the exchange between Rep. AOC and RFK, Jr. at today’s congressional hearing. (image credit: WSJ reporter @lizessleywhyte.bsky.social)

He is from the country whose president has threatened Canada, Panama, Greenland and Cuba. Most recently they have said that they are now ready for their next conquest. Just exactly which side of WWII is today's USA behaving like?

Rick Scott: "Europe would all be speaking German if it wasn't for the American service members and what we did to save their butts in the second world war. For them to not support what we're doing in Iran is foolish. So NATO is gonna have to change."

It would be almost reassuring if Timothy Snyder was a crank, but he's not.

Timothy Snyder@timothysnyder.bsky.social

Given Trump’s Easter threats to carry out new war crimes in Iran, we should think one or two steps ahead about a coup attempt connected to the war. And then deter it. (1/17)

Hey, so several of you wanted me to comment on a post about space and colonialism. I don't like quote-tweeting, basically because it violates the idea that good discourse should be about discussion in order to approach truth and/or mutual understanding, rather than, like, dogpiling. My thoughts:
