Conservatism consists of exactly one proposition, to wit: There must be in-groups whom the law protects but does not bind, alongside out-groups whom the law binds but does not protect.

Among the laid off were their top most tenured technical experts, who built the platform and no longer needed now

Netflix is laying off 1,000 workers — its largest layoff ever. In 2025, Netflix had a net income of $11 billion (up 26%). Its CEO was paid $53M (255x more than the median employee). And it just raised prices for the second time in just over a year. Corporate greed in a nutshell.

Laying off id tech team from id software is fucking bold move. Let's do ntoskernel team from windows now, or virt team from cloud. Just stop paying for electricity already

The next administration is going to have create an entire Department of Restoring Deleted Information

I'll summarize this: Mamdani asked NYers to keep air conditioning at 78 degrees. A wave criticism hit online. A MSNBC broadcast pointed out the US Department of Energy recommends that 78 degree figure. Immediately after, the US Department of Energy deleted 6,000 web pages related to energy saving.

I keep seeing these sanewashing-style takes about CBS news "but the ratings will fall and they'll revert it to not lose money". Come on, there are super-rich people, they don't need this revenue to pay rent or something, they can afford to buy thing just to burn it down. At which point you'll learn?

So if people are voting for farage and his dipshits despite brexit, what hope do we all reasonable people ever have at all...

Reminds me of JM Berger's definition of extremism as the belief that an in-group's success or survival is inseparable from the need for hostile action against an out-group.

Palantir is part of the "regressive and harmful" subculture that destroyed USAID, terminated mRNA research, trashed NIH & CDC & FDA & EPA, and brought back measles. Within the next few years, their subculture will be responsible for more preventable deaths than any other in human history. /6

As part of my efforts to combat the COVID Amnesia Project, let's accurately remember what 3 influential laptop class doctors from Stanford said 6 years ago as COVID overflowed hospitals and morgues. They won't remind you. I will. My latest.

sciencebasedmedicine.orgSince They Won’t Remind You, Here’s What Drs. John Ioannidis, Jay Bhattacharya, and Scott Atlas, Actually Said 6 Years AgoThe next time these doctors claim they were right, let's remind them exactly what they claim to have been right about.

uk.pcmag.com/wireless-rou... Because it's hard to be more stupid than a trump supporter, the trumpers in the government are exceptionally stupid because you need to be overtime stupid. And stupid people can't be innovative, so they steal their policy wholesale, from Russia.

uk.pcmag.comThe FCC Just Banned the Sale of New Wi-Fi Router Models Made Outside USThe surprising order means any new Wi-Fi router models sold in the country must be US-made, or receive an exemption from the Pentagon or Homeland Security Department.

This way we know what'll happen next: 1. Some manufacturers will try to bribe the DHS (I heard they have a new guy in charge) 2. Eric trump will have a new venture, selling routers totally made in U!S!A!

3. You will know these routers are definitely made in the US because they will have a sticker saying "Made in the USA" on top of the engraving "Made in China"

We have a verdict and we are heartbroken at the results. This is only the beginning. We will continue to fight the remaining charges until every defendant is home.

Why not 50?? Why not 500??? Social dominators are so harmful and stupid

So, as we watch Iran dumping mines into the Hormuz strait, the plan seems to be to fuck it up completely so the rest of the world will have no choice where to get oil?

“MAGA’s fundamental shared quality is a total lack of theory of mind for other people” is a theory that keeps getting validated by reality - look at almost every decision they’ve made in the war with Iran, and how they seem constantly surprised by the unanticipated actions of other parties.

UPDATE: Labubupocalypse seems to be over, and most of the affected models were reinstated.

So the good thing for the clown car regime is that there are 4 years worth of war-adjacent talking points prepared and tested by russia: special operation, we didn't start the war we will finish it, we haven't started anything serious yet.

In the meantime there's a labubupocalypse happening on makerworld - people are getting takedowns (which bambu immediately satisfies with no recourse) from POP MART claiming that models violated copyright. But models are original and don't look like labubu at all.

There are some wild takes about the anthropic situation, from big serious journalists talking about risk management, but they're all sanewashing. This below is as close to reality as it could be.

Bobby Kogan@bbkogan.bsky.social

You sound like an unhinged person if you in plain words describe what’s happening, but the Trump admin demanded Anthropic’s AI be able to kill things for it w/out human approval and also do mass surveillance. Anthropic said no, and now the admin is trying to destroy the company in retaliation.

You'll get the best analysis here if you imagine a school bully and a nerd who built a robot in the garage. Bully wants to attach scissors to the robot's hands, and the nerd tells him it's unsafe. Bully is monumentally stupid, he perceives this as an attack on his fragile masculinity.
