My $0.02. A "wave" of anti authoritarianism is not the same as a "blue" wave. We are voting against fascism, not for a party that sells out for a fundraising pitch.

Also parent of trans person here: can confirm we all remember when our supposed allies throw us under the bus.

Bill Corbett@billcorbett.bsky.social

Anti-trans Democrats are spreading poison when we can least afford it, during elections in this ongoing fascist takeover. As a strategy, it’s a recipe for failure. As a moral stand, it’s reprehensible. PS I’m the father of young trans woman and I’ll never forgive anyone who makes her life harder.

Oh, ya know, just paying an extra fee to renew the tabs on my car because it is a plug-in hybrid, while Elon uses his tax-free "non-income" to buy elections. Like ya do.

What if we just didn't make fun of what people looked like (or their size, or ability, or hair or clothes or makeup or plastic surgery even or any of that shit) Because actually what matters is what you say and what you do words and actions and their impact on other people

I liked the movie Digger, but it very much is not letting anyone off the hook. Our shared responsibility is shouted on the big screen.

There has been important and necessary solidarity built through moments of urgent challenge. But it's worth asking what shape our organizing could take if so much of it wasn't devoted to (necessary) reactivity? May we set conditions that allow for more spacious work.

Just saw the new Resident Evil movie. My hot take: it was fine, some parts even good, but it was not a Resident Evil movie.

If y'all elect a Congress that impeaches the current President, I will give each of you $50,000 liberated from the hoarded accounts of billionaires.* *This offer just as real as the other one.

Gonna get a lotta mileage reposting this one in the coming years.

This episode of 99% invisible focuses on reusing building materials and talks about ancient Rome. Couldn't help but think about our upcoming needs to destroy an awful lot of what is being built right now to remove the signs of the old empire. 99percentinvisible.org?p=48196

I mean, we may have to rebuild the Kennedy center. We are definitely going to have to take a lot of tacky gold paint off and stuff. It's going to need to be a national reconciliation about our buildings and space.

Harvard announced that it is closing its writing center and laying off the center’s longtime director—a decision that could have repercussions far beyond Cambridge, Tyler Austin Harper argues.

Welp, that'll learn me. I followed Richard Carlbloom after seeing that great post on winning all the DFL primaries, and had to immediately unfollow after seeing a nasty attack ad with all the tropes. They were almost positive about a thing! So close!

I have a *lot* of notes for the DFL, but gotta give props when due. That is impressive, and glad to hear about the door knocks.

The @dfl.org had a record run leading up to Tuesday. The coordinated campaign knocked 66,000 doors in four days, the four single largest days of knocking in August in the history of our party. Every single DFL-endorsed candidate won their primary election. We defended 100% of our DFL endorsements.

It's never too late: Jack Kirby didn't create the Fantastic Four until he was 42. But he did create Captain America when he was 23. So maybe you're way behind. Way, way behind.

Corallary: I know I have already lost this battle, but I wish audio podcasts were not forced onto YouTube. I mean, you can listen in a browser and download for any damn audio player, did we need the YouTube version? Was anyone really prevented from listening?

Reo Eveleth@reveleth.com

I know this is a losing battle but I am BEGGING people to stop calling video series "podcasts." You are not making a podcast. You're making a video series, which you film and want people to WATCH not just listen to.

Just a reminder that $250M in fraud has MN pols spending millions in ads. This one guy has that laying around, so I guess it's not that much money? I mean, 250M is only 0.00034 of an Elon. So, if 250M is a lot, wouldn't we be concerned if one person was hoarding 300 times that much wealth?

So sure, I saw Spider-Man. I think the box office take is a sign of all of us fan-kin being starved for these movies after what was once a relentless pace of releases. It's a fine movie, but it is NOT "biggest box office of all time" good.

I have been weighing what more to say on the news continuing to unfold about St. Paul's mayor. There are layers here, but as a St. Paul resident, as someone who has worked with the Mayor, and as someone who has frequently experienced harassment; I hope the Mayor seriously considers stepping aside.

I had the same thought minus the captivated piece.

(MN politics) If Amy becomes governor, likely, and either Peggy or Angie takes Tina's Senate seat, also likely, Amy would appoint a Senator to her own vacant seat. If we then end up with both Peggy AND Angie as Senators and they still despise each other, it would be UNPLEASANT and I'd be CAPTIVATED.
