Anyway I would say that it's time to consign Brad Bradford to the dustbinford of historyford, except you just know one of the Tories or Liberals will likely recruit him for a future MP/MPP race. It doesn't matter which one, because he believes in nothing

There are excerpts on Goodreads and this lady shifts between verb tenses midsentence like she's Hunter S. Thompson on a bender except not because he could actually write coherently even when on said bender

But the fact is that modern liberal, center-left, and left political movements are *insufficiently* transnationalized — especially when compared to the transnational right. We are *behind* the curve. Our leaders are behind the curve.

Just installed my 26-year-old copy of Word on a new desktop. I will never pay subscription fees for software I already paid for. I will go live in a shack in the woods first.

Flavio has no real arguments worth making. He got his ass comprehensively kicked, he agreed with the voting time extension before he decided it was bad, and only about 40k votes were cast in the extension anyway. He's basically trying to get other people to do a January 6 for him.

Happy sports equinox day! Today is the only day this year that you can (try to) watch an NBA, NFL, MLB, NHL and WNBA game at the exact same time, or as I call it: The Sickos Challenge.

A Lula win is great news for those of us who enjoy breathing air, and will probably save several species from extinction

This is a little of column A, little of column B sort of deal. It was definitely not doing well at the box office and was going to face a pretty severe screen reduction regardless, but EVERY screen? Yeah you can call shenanigans there

There is a hella interesting comic to be written in the Duckverse where ducks are an oppressed class and Uncle Scrooge et al have to constantly overcome dogfaceman supremacy

Stuffing loot bags for my niece's 10th (!) birthday party and on seeing a llama sticker I said "yay! I'm a llama again!" and neither my niece or sister understood the reference so guess what WE'RE watching tonight

Gummy Nerd Clusters are, I think, the best new mass market candy to be introduced in at least the last decade. My niece didn't believe that when we were kids Nerds came loose in tiny boxes and spilled all over the place.

"I was a dumbass for X, Y, Z reasons. Material reality made me see the error of my ways" is actually incredibly uplifting stuff, especially from a 25 year old with a blue collar job and a HS diploma. He was a teenager during Trump 1

Calling a snap election when you don't need to do so for another two years and you're slightly behind in the polls is the sort of "gamble" DraftKings encourages you to take

In particular, although Emma Thompson is a better actress than Daisy Edgar-Jones (not that DEJ is bad, it's just, you know, Emma Thompson), I enjoyed DEJ as Eleanor more just because Thompson was too old for it in 95. (And yes, Rickman was too, I know people will come at me for that one)

"there are no bad ideas when you're brainstorming new ways to achieve your goals" *Marco Rubio tweets* "okay there is at least one bad idea"

A ton of good answers here, but the most consequential one is probably vaccines, which are so far above what they were fifty years ago they're barely the same thing

Social media loves talking about how everything is getting worse. But what’s something that you’ve seen get _better_ in your lifetime?

Just so everybody knows, this is from ten years ago. God knows how many more people have died the same way since then.

This shit just writes itself at this point. Just the name "Epic AI MegaJam" is a joke that best describes what is going on with these companies.

Whenever we travel, I generally do the research for accommodations wherever we're going, and in almost every market (not universally, but close) there are well-reviewed hotels that are as cheap or cheaper than the Airbnbs. It's a genuinely near-useless service!

Even when the hotels are twenty to forty bucks more a night than a similar sized Airbnb we always go for the hotel, because not doing chores is, to us, one of the defining features of a goddamn vacation

And this is a good point re one of the few things Airbnb is genuinely useful for, namely specialty accommodations in remote areas

I live near a mountain resort and we get "flatlanders" visiting and short term rentals are ubiquitous. I'm not sure most truly understand, or care, about the devastation those things cause to local communities. Outside of the disrespect from visitors they DESTROY housing in those areas.

Most of the major hotel booking sites will also let you book apartments and homestays, if that's what you want - the difference is that the hotel booking sites have strict rules about what home operators can demand of their guests because it's a hotel site.
