Weird propaganda ad during the World Series calling liberals the *new* racists. If true, aren’t the republicans implying that they’re the OG racists? Like “Yep, we’ve been the racists for the past 400 years. NOW it’s the liberals!”

See? There is no secret “defeat fascism once and for all” belief system. You just do the work, every election. Far left, center left, it doesn’t matter. Learn the lesson: Stop pretending you’re special and just fucking vote for Democrats.

Lula has been reelected president, Brazilian media has now called. An extraordinary comeback for the left-wing politician who trailed by 2 points in round 1 but managed to hold off Flávio Bolsonaro, the former president's son.

Whole lot of Gen Z really went to the polls in 2024 just to cook their own futures.

This man really does believe that everything’s fine and his approval rating is over 60% because that’s what the sycophants around him tell him all day. He’s never existed in reality.

Q: What are you hearing is the top issue for voters? Trump: I’m hearing we turned the whole thing around.

Secretary of the interior Doug Burgum talking about getting rid of hazardous trees. The man in charge of federal public lands and charged with conserving them 🤣

Burgum doesn't answer a question on Fox about whether green fees for the DC public golf course will go up after Trump's redesign, and says the administration is "getting rid of hazardous trees"

Vote NO on all WA State-wide initiatives, friends. All brought to your ballot and monied up by weirdo Brian Heywood & the "Let's Go Washington" millionaires/billionaires lobby group. They want to pick you pocket, grope your children, give child abusers more leeway, & defund our state's services.

Except he didn't fund it, I did, paying a much higher tax rate than the white supremacist. Those thrusters are SpaceX tech for which we—not him—have paid ~$31 billion. I paid for those cold gas thrusters and the software running them, and what I get in exchange is a short video and white supremacy.

Alex Hern@hern.bsky.social

do think there's a danger of looking at extremely cool shit like a car driving upside down then doing a kickflip before landing, and convincing yourself it's actually lame because the guy funding it is a white supremacist

Anyway, good case study here. You can be as evil as you want, you can kill as many people as is possible, you can shove churro ladies into vans then off to black sites in countries they've never even heard of, but if you can't do the performance of fascism — that's when you're in real trouble.

Documents released by a watchdog group suggest that despite Trump's promise to fund Freedom 250 events through private donations, taxpayers largely footed the bill. The budget estimates leave open questions about where tens of millions in private donations ended up.

Anthropic wrote that the new policy update “is meant to apply only in extreme cases, where users repeatedly act cruelly toward our models, with no discernible purpose. It does not apply to common versions of user frustration, pushback, dark creative themes, or model testing and research.”

Sam Altman said people are just gonna have to die in order to implement AI. In the very same week, Anthropic claimed it’s a human rights violation to be mean to the computer. These people need to be held accountable. They think lines of code are a person with rights but living people are debris.

The Verge@theverge.com

Over the past year, Anthropic has repeatedly flirted with the idea that its AI models could be conscious in some way. In February, Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei said on a podcast, “We don’t know if the models are conscious.”

Ah yes the Trump defense. Keep trying until you get your cherry picked prosecutor or judge.

Apparently for the MAGA true believers, there is no discernible difference between Trump and Jesus, and the animating force that unites them is hatred for and a desire to exterminate Muslims (or you can substitute trans people, Blacks, Hispanics, gays, Indian-Americans... as necessary).

This is the key thing that so many debates about AI replacing jobs miss. Whether AI can do your job is not relevant. What's relevant is whether your boss believes (almost certainly incorrectly) that AI can do your job, or whether your boss wants to use AI as an excuse to let you go to 'cut costs'.

Finally, there's an *economic* coin-trick: "AI will destroy jobs." Sure, yes, AI is destroying jobs. But there's a vast difference between "You got fired because an AI can do your job" and "You got fired because your boss was convinced that the AI can do your job, even though it *cannot*." 45/
