Filled out the ballot and voted today. Happy to say that I agree with all the positions below. The person I was most proud of marking on my ballot was Mr. Cervantes. Looking forward to you being my rep.

Gabriel Cervantes@gabrieltcervantes.bsky.social

There are 3 important measures on your ballot this year. We need to vote yes on prop NN to fund our schools, Yes on Amendment 87 for a graduated income tax, and yes on issue 7A to fund the Colorado Connector (if you got it on your ballot.) Vote no on everything else! And vote for Manny!

I’m ok. Make no mistake: this is an attempt to target political enemies and weaponize federal law enforcement. For ten years, Trump has targeted me with baseless lies and smear campaigns. This is just the latest escalation in his campaign of political intimidation. I will not be silenced.

First you walk back support for Medicare for All, now this? C'mon, man. Reporting "critical incidents"? The same "independent reviews" that the CEOs of these data centers want? Stand for something, Manny. AI Firms to be liable for any damage caused by the use of that AI. That'll do it

Manny Rutinel@mannyrutinel.bsky.social

(4/6) (1) requiring large AI firms to report critical safety incidents in a timely manner (2) requiring independent safety reviews before major model releases (3) implementing protections for whistleblowers

The more I read that thread the less it says. No push for ANY environmental regulation on data centers in our district. No push for ANY accountability for the corporations pushing the AI (just don't lie to us about "safety practices", please) Weak

It is unsettling how surprising this is to me. I've become so accustomed to all monied interests getting away without consequences. Kudos Mr. Silver

I heard bluesky launched video upgrades this week?? Let’s talk about how sometimes being a scientist is observing something you can’t explain, trying to figure out what the heck is going on, then still having no idea what’s going on, and just enjoying the process of learning as you go.

Usually I'm able to shut out the reality of where things are when I tune into sporting events. I'm a soccer fan once every 4 years. I love watching the games. I love watching the different looks and styles each team brings. Then this blatant corruption of suspending Balogun's red.

I've nearly perfected my veil of ignorance when watching these games. This broke it. I don't think I can "just watch the games" this tourney. Bah.

The line for fuel at Sam's Club. Like a clock. It's amazing to me how many of us will wait in that line to save $0.20 a gallon

I didn't believe this was real. The president is threatening to end the lives of 90 million people. Kill 90 million human beings. Whether he plans to do this with one big bomb or to do this by destroying power, food, health care access is besides the point. Pay attention.

Don’t let the President distract you from his mission of funneling wealth from the bottom to the top.

Brings up one of my least favorite facts about how we are not an advanced society. We dumped all the raw sewage from New York City into the Hudson until 1986. Just 40 years ago we were not treating sewage in New York.

To all those who would throw their hands up and say "Well, I guess I'm going to vote for the nazi tat guy/ old status quo lady" There is another way

Andrea LaFlamme@andrealaflamme.bsky.social

Hi everyone! My name is Andrea LaFlamme and I'm running to unseat Susan Collins in the US Senate. I'm a feminist public health professor and the ONLY candidate in this race who has worked in education, municipal health, and as an elected union leader. (1/2)

So loads of people are sharing an obvious ai "glow up" of an actual photo. I never share ai stuff even to dunk, but in this case I'm sharing a comparison to show the problem. We have to stand against this slop at every level or it becomes normalised. They want us to stop caring. See alt text.

Unless Democratic Senators who voted no on the #Schumersurrender today explicitly call for Schumer to resign or step aside - they all own this cave. Just pushing out performative posts and press releases don’t count for much anymore. Enough.

Will Bunch@willbunch.bsky.social

Since the Democrats worked extra hard to hide who actually supported this, I think the No Kings/Resistance position should be to primary every Democrat unless they publicly call for Schumer's ouster this week Either they go into total rebellion mode, which they won't, or the people will

I support everyone giving vast sums of money to Andrew Cuomo. It’s the “lighting a million quid on fire” art piece but this time performed by the worst people in the world.

26 billionaires spent over $22 million to beat Zohran Mamdani. Why? Because regular people came together around an agenda that prioritized making life easier for more people. It beat big money. That is how we win.

That was one of the best speeches I have ever heard. The depth of reference. The undertoned shade. The in-your-face challenges. From walk out music to quotes - everything was intentional. What a work of art

Yes! Eliminate stigma, provide the basics for everyone. The more I see how policy works, the less sense means testing makes. Universal services are the way

Weiser appears to be the only prominent Colorado Democrat who has used any medium to encourage people to attend today's massive anti-Trump rallies. I can't find any communication from any of the state's six congressional Dems to the same effect.

Kyle Clark@kylec.bsky.social

Colorado AG Phil Weiser (D) is calling on Coloradans to turn out en masse for Oct 18 demonstrations against President Trump’s use of the military in American cities. “Don’t be afraid,” Weiser said. “Don’t be afraid to show up.” #copolitics

THREAD. Did you know that at about 1/3 of all stranger homicides in the U.S. are perpetrated by police? But there's something hidden here that is important to understand in this authoritarian moment.

What a fantastic thread!

A life update: this wound up paying off. I'm still applying to several jobs that are hopefully careers, but I've got my survival needs covered by a job at the airport that I'm apparently pretty good at. And instead of being in an office alone, which was driving me mad, I see 20k people a day.

I don't know what I was expecting when I put on this audiobook. Maybe a standard bro-science success story? Maybe a fun story about "getting in shape"? This book is more. Maybe I just stumbled onto it at the right time for me, but I can't say enough about how impressed I am with this book. Read it!

Today is the day! My book is out in the world. It’s not a friendly world for writing about science or women or especially women’s bodies right now. But I’m so proud to be telling a story that makes a certain type of person very, very angry. www.hachettebookgroup.com/titles/casey...
