I’ll keep saying it … the old are far more vulnerable to social media lies and conspiracies than the young. They also have a lot more time in which to be brainwashed.

🤷

Taking a trip to Italy and we've decided not to hire a car as unfortunately in my experience cat hire companies are all scams. Every time I've hired they try to get out of giving you an actual car. I don't know why they're not banned or properly regulated.

Everyone already knew James Johnson was dodgy, right? I mean his analysis has always been poor and biased. Worth contrasting him with Luke Tryl, one of the very best political analysts. World of difference.

If Burnham does call an early election, it'll be fine if we get MORE of this!! 🤣

General Boles@generalboles.bsky.social

well you COULD watch Ed Davey being pushed around by Laura K........or YOU COULD WATCH ED DAVEY BEING PULLED ALONG BY A SPEEDBOAT TO THE SKI SUNDAY THEME

All the more galling when we already found out the best way to counter Nazis between 1939-1945

Pete Fraser@petefrasermusic.bsky.social

We are doomed to have the Sunlight Is The Best Disinfectant conversation about Naziism over and over again, aren’t we? When I was a kid, it felt like it was well understood that this stuff was settled.

Can anyone explain why all these academics have come out in support of a guy who is clearly neo-nazi? What does it achieve for them? Makes em look stupid and a bit racist. So why on earth do it? Half of them aren't even smart enough to understand why he has been suspended!! 🤷

This stopped me in my tracks. An independent study by @qmul.bsky.social has found that after ULEZ was introduced, children’s lungs grew faster in Central London and have now caught up with children outside of the capital. Incredible.

Air pollution stunts children’s lung growth. New Queen Mary research found that improvements in air quality after the introduction of London’s ULEZ are associated with accelerated lung growth in children. Read more: shorturl.at/Jx86o

Hasan only able to make his (very strong arguments) because Riflind gave him time and space to answer properly.

@mehdirhasan.bsky.social (who I'm not a big fan of) is absolutely bodying @hugorifkind.bsky.social (who I'm a big fan of) on Times Radio. It's great radio. Hugo is scrupulously fair and a great interviewer. Hasan rock solid in his arguments.

I used to love watching Bill Maher, but he's gone a bit mad now. The other week he said "Mamdani is a Marxist" (yeah Bill, there are no private businesses in New York now, it's true! 🤣🤣) and this week he said "all the Europeans were amazed at our supermarkets during the world cup!" 🤣🤣

I think he's just evidence that all Americans are Maga deep down. Their empire is collapsing and he's taking it very badly. But he's meant to be one of the smart ones and he thinks we go out in the fields to pick potatoes when we need them. Fucking idiot. Unwatchable now 🤷

I can’t shake off the image of our press, like a pack of sharks smelling blood or a horde of mindless zombies, going in for the kill without pausing once to think of the consequences.

It's me, a Telegraph columnist, taking a break screaming bloody murder about fairness in the women's sports I wouldn't be caught dead watching to wax lyrical about academic integrity in sociology, a field I consider to be fake, at institutions I consider to be communist indoctrination centers.

Cambridge's failings in terms of recruitment and oversight, which turned an internal HR mess into a widely reported and then politically instrumentalised issue, will need substantial internal investigation. But so much Anglosphere Right wing discourse in these cases comes down to projection

Stephenbc reposted

It was quite telling how at a time when an authoritarian American President and a reactionary American tech oligarch clearly left the bounds of sanity so much of the Anglosphere Right became obsessed with the frailties and blunders of a relatively obscure black British professor

Guto Harris on Times Radio saying this was inevitable 😬

At least 80% of the Westminster lobby will be cracking open the champagne today at the news of Jason Arday's death. Look at the Telegraph coverage. This was always their goal. The crisis in British media continues unacknowledged...

Good moment to say something nice about Binface I suppose. The thing is, he's really very funny. The whole thing would have worn out horribly if he wasn't. Just a genuine source of joy in an otherwise grey landscape.

Chris Philp being interviewed on Times Radio by Stig Abel, about boats and prisons. He at no point mentions that both these problems arise during the Tories 14 years in government. One day I will get an answer as to why UK media have memory holed 2010-2024?! Why??

I guess it's not a huge surprise that the men who wrote Basil Fawlty and David Brent as characters for themselves turned out to be insufferable pricks.

Talking to my nephews and nieces who are 12 and 9, and I find out that they are watching videos of old people believing AI videos to be real, and laughing at them. We desperately need a social media ban for the over 60s 😬

Out of everyone I talk to, the kids are handled tech better than anyone, including me (at age 51). Genuinely, ask kids for tips on tech use, and you'll get wise advice.

Meloni has fucked up so bad the only way out is complete surrender. She'll keep these checks for a few weeks, until they look utterly absurd, then they'll be pulled, and she'll be humiliated.

Does anyone know why British journalists turned on Carol Cadwalladr years ago, but are now praising Gabriel Pogrund for recycling her stories? Why is it wrong for Arday to steal other people's stuff, but ok for Pogrund to do it??

Been saying it for years now, but I do think the the UKs severe decline has been driven primarily by British journalists, who care only for clicks. "My Kingdom for a click" 🤷

If ten Russian ballistic missiles landed on Barcelona, would Europe do anything? Yes of course! The Danes, Finns and Italians would demand we be kicked out of Schengen, and that's about it 😬

Stephenbc@stephenbc.bsky.social

I really don't see how this nightly bombing of Kyiv is sustainable for Europeans. We can't just sit here and watch. People are going to think "if our leaders accept one massive city being bombed, will they accept us being bombed?"

Yet another reason we Europeans need to have nothing to do with these so-called 'americans'. They're just deeply immoral people.

NEW: Elvis Brooks was exonerated after 42 years in prison. Civil rights attorneys called his case an egregious example of a wrongful conviction. But the Louisiana Attorney General maintains he is guilty — and thus doesn’t qualify for any compensation from the state. with @veritenews.org

I'm listening to Babymonster's feed on SoundCloud, and my god, pop music has drastically improved in my 50 years on this planet. My daughter has a few 80s / 90s hits in her Spotify feed and they sound very ropey these days.

Can anyone please please please explain to me why Finland would want a situation where 50,000 men can storm across a border and the only response from the EU would be to kick them out of Schengen? I mean, there's a high likelihood 50,000 men WILL cross their border 😬😬
