i've been a duckduckgo user for a long time - mainly for their search bangs feature. as my search queries have shifted to LLMs, bangs are pretty much the only thing i use search engines for now and ddg is slow af so i made my own and it's 10x faster search.stupidtech.net

I’ve come to the realisation that a good feed is an addictive feed. Feed choice just changes the flavour of the underlying problem. This doesn’t mean content feeds are inherently bad. I think they’re a great source of entropy. But they are a huge waste of time and it feels like we should do better

This is awesome Now someone make a slightly less memey version that uses some sensible dependencies and call it a minimal production grade PDS

pds.js oauth coming in hot bringing back the single .js zero deps besides cloudflare worker stuff still ironing out stuff (and very basic scopes support) but it works on @pdsls.dev

I set up a VPS with an opencode server and github credentials and I’ve been issuing orders in natural language from my phone to make changes to my apps / prototype ideas I feel liberated from my desk

next stop, PDS

experimenting with WWW-Authenticate headers for advertising oauth on permissioned endpoints (e.g. followers only) pretty easy to integrate with ethereum. the client or server initiating the request can then exchange a signature for a session token and re-request the data if they have access

are there any ongoing discussions around adopting did:ethr (or a new smart contract-based DID primitive) as a decentralized alternative to did:plc? seems like a great fit

when private storage gets added to PDSes you could easily see it becoming a core internet primitive on the level of email today. a portable data backpack

Global spam filters are a bit of a cop out imo. They give you the worst of both worlds - when they’re too aggressive they frequently result in false positives - when they’re too lax they’re not very useful The reality is that spam is relative and our content filters should reflect that

thoughtful blog post about blogging's place in the modern social stack. love the party analogy

I might've gone a little overboard, but here's 3,500 words on social media, how to make it better, what's so awesome about Bluesky's protocol, and why I'm particularly excited about @leaflet.pub as showing the future of publishing. (Plus some feature suggestions to make Leaflet damn near perfect.)

I love that atproto is taking privacy seriously Besides surveillance, I’m pretty sure nobody wants everything they say and do to be free for all to use in training AI

is there a discussion about bringing mini apps to bluesky? who should i follow? mini app integration into bluesky could be as simple as being able to launch an iframe, providing an sdk for automatically logging users in, and allowing apps to send notifications!

Have there been any discussions of miniapps inside Bluesky? Similar to telegram/wechat/farcaster Access to social graph supercharges these use cases

Kinda funny that we managed to convince millions of people to join a decentralised social protocol with side effects that they were totally unaware of just because they dislike Elon Musk
