Humbled to announce DC United started a 16-yr-old homegrown back last night. That’s not a lineup decision. That’s vertical integration of the talent pipeline. 🚀 He’s not “too young.” He’s pre-revenue. Stop waiting for the perfect hire. Promote the intern. Ship the MVP at center back. #Leadership

Jon's got good ideas on what #MNUFC should figure out before the end of the. I think they boil down to if they can play a 4-4-2. But I'm doubtful, they've always struggled in a back 4.

Jon Marthaler@jonmarthaler.com

#MNUFC isn't giving up on 2026 yet. But that doesn't mean they don't have some things to try in the final six games of the year. Here are four things they might, and perhaps should, take a look at over the season's final weeks.

Catching up on this one. At the game I knew Tani would get some applause, but I wasn't sure Dayne would actually get booed. I was bummed he left, but can't hate a guy for betting on himself and ambition. Appreciate Jon ending this one with a positive take on both players.

Jon Marthaler@jonmarthaler.com

Talking to Dayne St. Clair and Tani Oluwaseyi, at Allianz Field, made it feel like no time at all had passed. The two former #MNUFC stars were both obviously happy to be back in Minnesota. One sounded wistful - and the other sounded like any other Loons fan.

I feel bad for Cam. Seems like a decent fellow, but MNUFC need to fire him tomorrow and give Danny Cruz a run out to the end of the season to see if he's a real option

Yes! Very excited for The Power Fantasy to start back up. Can't wait to see the unintended consequences of knowing the future (and time travel).

Kieron Gillen@kierongillen.bsky.social

We're back. The Power Fantasy returns on December 9th, carefully timed to be just after everyone has wrapped their comics of the year lists, so making folks go "Oh - wait, they did those banger two issues in January and February and I forgot, never mind."

Kyndra actually alluded to this in the first half. Yeboah had an opportunity to lay the ball off to keep a counter going, but was so focused on drawing the foul that he missed it. #MNUFC

Mark@markoftheeast.bsky.social

Yeboah has scored a good number of goals this season (with the help of pens). But his vision and passing … that’s at least 4 times tonight he’s made the wrong pass or just a very bad pass in a good transition spot. Just doesn’t see the field and holds it too long. #MNUFC

I really appreciate #MNUFC making it worth staying up late for this. Didn't expect that explosion of goals, but happy to see it. Looks like the Quakes narrative is stronger than the Loons'.

#MNUFC looked a lot better last night, connected passes, moved the ball quickly, and won more 2nd balls. But the Loons benefitted from a Ball Goes In™ night and Callender made some really great saves.

If I had a nickel for every time Minnesota put up five goals in their first game after a CSO's exit, I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice.

CJ Fogler@cjzero.bsky.social

We have a "baby on the field" delay in San Jose 😂

Is this the same angle Tani scored his first #MNUFC goal? Caldeira making the most of his opportunities with the first team. 4 goal contributions in 5 games.

CJ Fogler@cjzero.bsky.social

Marcus Caldeira gets his first MLS goal on a bad turnover from San Jose, #MNUFC now up 4-1

Generally fine with coaches and executives doing what they need to for their careers, but there's got to be more to the story. The optics are awful, especially since KEA delayed his start with #MNUFC to wrap things up at Barnsley. What's different now.

Jeff Rueter@jeffrueter.bsky.social

Some people can't cook if they aren't in a lavish gourmet kitchen, and he might be a clear upgrade over Rodolfo Borrell. But he's left Minnesota with a lot of rubble to sort through after his first CSO gig. Leaving mid-window is bad optics, to boot.

After the last few games with Dieng starting for #MNUFC, I think it's clear he is the way forward at striker. He is much more dynamic than Yeboah, shown some good skills, and his hold up play has improved dramatically since the start of the season (even if it's not quite there yet).

#MNUFC should always play Caldeira with Pereyra. They've got some synergy (although it's probably game state related). I'd at least bring Caldeira on before Gonzalez when we need a goal.

Andy Greder@andygreder.bsky.social

Context: #MNUFC coach Cameron Knowles said Friday the recent play of Marcus Caldeira and Mauricio Gonzalez makes decisions on starting XI more difficult. Now with Caldeira's game-tying assist in the 1-1 draw with #RSL on Saturday, it's going to be even harder to not play newcomer in a bigger role.

This is a better lineup for #MNUFC. Curious about Diaz at LCB. Will Pereyra play as a true 10? I was never super impressed by the Tani-Yeboah lineups, but maybe Dieng can be dynamic enough to create some space for Yeboah.

from here on out it's all lower case today. no 'caps

Doyle's right about James, would have been fun to bring him back. I spent the whole group stage over indexing and wishcasting who #MNUFC should sign too. I'm on the Elijah Just train (maybe Boxall can put in a good word) and like the look of Oscar Bobb (can beat someone off the dribble).

Great stuff here, and Jeff nails my thoughts at the end. France weren't at their best, but Spain didn't give them an opportunity to find their footing.

Jeff Rueter@jeffrueter.bsky.social

NEW: Framing yesterday as a French flop does a disservice to Spain’s brilliance. Luis de la Fuente has struck a rare balance with his side en route to their second men’s World Cup final. On Spain’s methodical machine: www.theguardian.com/football/202...

Back in high school, I played in a tournament where the PK rule was once the ref blows the whistle the goalie could leave their line. Really changed the feel and strategy. It's a variation on PK rules I really like (besides the OG MLS shootout).

John Muller@johnspacemuller.com

The good news is pretty soon they're going to have to crack down on penalty runups The bad news is that means soccer's going to have to figure out what a balk is

My favorite example of this was Fringe. They aired the pilot as the second episode, and in a later episode Olivia's partner dies but back in the next episode. Then he's never seen again!

Dashiell Bennett@dashiell.bsky.social

They would take shows that actually were serialized and then show them out of order on a whim!

#MNUFC showing off all their CB problems. Boxall a step too slow and not quite match ready yet. Romero showing his lack of mobility. Duggan a great advertisement for the dangers of playing a lefty at RCB.

A bike corral in front of Shish. This changes everything! Just need one at Indochin, and all my favorite restaurants will be covered.

Sarah J.@sjinstp.bsky.social

A ribbon was cut! Thanks to all who showed up today. This bike corral is one of three, part of a one year, year-round pilot project in St. Paul on Grand Ave. They are at Kowalski’s Market, Dunn Bros Coffee (pictured here) and Shish (installation in the works). Use them and share your feedback!

Nearly 2 xG, but 16 shots of it was poor chances. Bit of an indictment of #MNUFC 's ability to break down a low block. I'm not sure this group has shown the technical ability to do it.

James Rodriguez is still must-see TV. In his first MLS start for Minnesota United, the Colombian was a constant source of danger in both open play and on set pieces 🇨🇴 Such a fun watch.

I'm guessing #MNUFC see a heavily rotated LAFC tomorrow. No Son or Bouanga except late or cameo appearances. Good game for James to start. LAFC will likely be bunkering and countering with a rotated squad on the road. Loons will need some extra quality/creativity in the final third.

Andy Greder@andygreder.bsky.social

Preview: #MNUFC vs. LAFC A profanity-laced rant from a fan in Dallas shows how things are different with James Rodriguez, but will things change for Colombian to play for #Loons? ⚽️ Both teams juggle cup games. 🤹‍♀️ A Dominik Fitz update. 😷 Plus, a prediction: www.twincities.com/2026/04/24/m...

Good half from #MNUFC! Surely Dallas will adjust so the Loons CBs can't break 2 lines so easily. I'd expect a tougher second half. Need to eliminate those lazy midfield turnovers or Musa will punish us.

Knowles delivering on Ramsey's promise of turning Bongi into Frimpong, except it's Markanich and Duncan. Love seeing the wing backs making those late arriving runs for #MNUFC.

Tom Lawton@startwitheasy.bsky.social

Fired up the YouTube highlight machine after seeing Ramsay's reference to Frimpong. This is the best one I found. Highlights like will never show the whole thing, but I think I see what he's getting at. Bongi is very good at arriving in the box in dangerous areas and acting as a 3rd striker.

Not taking anything away from an incredible Chancalay strike, but this was superb from Pereyra & Diaz. Never giving up on the play, winning the recovery, counter-pressing, and winning duels - what a great mentality. #MNUFC

Important win over this Timbers team for #MNUFC. Played well enough but got lucky Basset managed to hit the post on his chance (see the big circle on the 6). Loons did a good job absorbing pressure in the 2nd half and didn't give up many good chances (except the offsides call on Kelsey's goal).

Is this what all Timbers games are like? Felt so chaotic with ball just bouncing off players constantly. No one could really control the ball. Especially at the top of the 18 where it was extremely crowded.

Despite being my favorite #MNUFC sub graphic, if Romero is 90 minutes fit I'm not sure we need to bring on Padelford to close out games. He was lucky Kelsey made his run too soon on the offside goal.

IN: Padelford OUT: Romero 66' | MIN 2-0 POR

Great road win for #MNUFC last night. Helped by the early 2nd half red to SD, but they looked good on the ball. Loons connected passes much better than earlier this season and definitely all last season.

Yeboah looked really good! Got the poacher's goal, but also his hold up play was good. Showed his technical ability bringing down lots of long balls and connecting with the midfield. Exactly what I wanted to see from him. #MNUFC

Tom Lawton@startwitheasy.bsky.social

I've been disappointed in Yeboah when he's been healthy. He has a good skill set, but he looks a step behind on what to do next. I can accept some poor touches I just want him to play faster!

Duncan was great. He's an incredible athlete, as he showed on the goal, and he was all action last night. Happy to see he's settled into the team as a wingback. #MNUFC
